The inspiration behind my 4848 Festival poster comes from the festival’s location—Snowshoe, West Virginia. Using my abstract, geometric, segmented poster style, I created a fresh take on the classic snowshoe silhouette. Within the shapes and details of the snowshoe, there’s a vignette of an outdoor landscape, nodding to the lush greenery and natural beauty of Snowshoe, WV. Nestled within the design is also the subtle silhouette of an acoustic guitar.
What really brings the piece to life, in my opinion, is the repetition of the snowshoe illustrations, creating a pattern that gives the poster a textile-like, woven feel. For the "4848" typography, I drew inspiration from vintage 1920s Swiss display fonts—something about that style has always evoked a nostalgic, alpine ski vibe to me, which felt right at home here.
