Returns
What is the return window?
ABC Warehouse provides a return window of 30 days from your initial purchase. To qualify, the product must be in its original condition, including all packaging, accessories, and manuals. During the holiday season, ABC Warehouse extends its return policy - purchases made from early November can be returned until the end of January of the following year.
Do I need a receipt to return an item?
If you buy an item that is defective or damaged out of the box, you can return it. You'll need to have your receipt and contact your salesperson. If you can't find your receipt or the phone number of the salesperson, call 800-722-3333, and a customer support representative will assist you.
Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Customers cannot return clearance, overstock, or closeout items. This policy excludes items that are clearance, floor samples, foundations, and adjustable bases.
How will I receive my refund?
ABC Warehouse holds absolute sway over how your return will be processed. The company will repair your item or replace it at its discretion. ABC Warehouse will also decide how to issue your refund - as a store credit or as a refund to your original payment method.
Can I return online purchases in-store?
Regarding purchases made in-store, please contact your salesperson or store manager. Regarding purchases made on-line, call 800-981-3866. The company directs online purchase returns through their online customer service rather than in-store, suggesting separate processes for online and in-store purchases.

So here's the thing about ABC Warehouse - it's basically the Midwest's worst-kept secret for appliances and electronics. Founded back in 1963 by a guy named Gordon "Gordy" Hartunian, this family-owned chain has been doing the warehouse-style retail thing since before it was cool. And they've stuck with that original philosophy: skip the fancy merchandising frills and just give people good deals.
The company's tagline is "The Closest Thing To Wholesale," which sounds like marketing speak, but they've actually built their entire business model around it. They operate 42 stores across Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana - not exactly a national footprint, but they've carved out a solid regional presence. Over 1,000 employees work there, which tells you they're not some mom-and-pop operation anymore, even if they still act like one.
What's kind of interesting is how they've evolved. Started with appliances and electronics, sure, but in recent years they've added mattresses and furniture to the mix. Brands like Sealy and Lane. It's that classic retail expansion play - once you've got customers coming in for a fridge, why not sell them a couch too?
The stores themselves are... well, they're warehouses. That's not a criticism - it's literally the point. You're not going to find the polished showroom experience of a high-end retailer. But notice how that keeps their overhead low, which theoretically means better prices for you. They've also got this whole extended warranty program through their service network, which seems to be a big part of their revenue model.
One thing that stands out: they're still family-owned after 62 years. In an era where every successful regional chain eventually gets bought out by some private equity firm, ABC Warehouse has stayed independent. That's either admirable stubbornness or smart business - probably both.
Their customer service setup is interesting too. They've got multiple phone numbers for different issues (warranty service, online orders, general inquiries), plus email support. And if you can't get satisfaction through normal channels, they have something called the "Heartline" - basically an escalation path when things go sideways. Whether that's effective or just another layer of bureaucracy probably depends on who you ask.
The company also runs Mickey Shorr Mobile Electronics stores and Hawthorne Home Appliances locations, so they're diversified beyond just the ABC Warehouse brand. Smart move for a regional player trying to capture different market segments.
