Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Ace & Tate-they're basically what happens when someone gets fed up with the whole "designer glasses cost more than your rent" situation and decides to do something about it. Founded in Amsterdam back in 2013, this Dutch eyewear brand has been quietly revolutionizing how we think about buying glasses.

The company's whole philosophy is refreshingly straightforward: make well-designed, quality frames at prices that don't require you to take out a second mortgage. They're here to inject a good dose of common sense into the industry by making well-designed, quality eyewear at an affordable price. Great fits that last, for all eyes. And honestly? It's working.

What sets them apart isn't just the pricing-though glasses starting from $150 including prescription lenses is pretty compelling. It's their approach to the entire experience. With 650 eyewear experts across 85 lively stores in 9 countries, they've managed to scale without losing that personal touch. Each store is designed in collaboration with local artists, so you're not walking into some cookie-cutter retail space.

The sustainability angle is worth mentioning too. Since 2018, they actively strive to incorporate sustainable materials into their collection, working closely with manufacturers who meet their standards of social and environmental responsibility. They're using everything from bio-acetate to recycled materials, and their shipping boxes are made from grass fibers and recycled paper. It's the kind of thoughtful approach that makes you feel good about your purchase.

But here's what really gets me-they've figured out the supply chain game. The in-house team of designers conceptualizes each frame, and correspondents from the company oversee every step of production, working directly with manufacturers to ensure costs are kept low. No middlemen, no licensing fees, just straight-up good glasses at fair prices.
