👻🧡A Handmade Halloween!🧡👻

There's something about Halloween that always sparks my creativity… I love the thrill of transforming something ordinary into something delightfully spooky.

 

The season feels like an open invitation to play, imagine, and create. From handmade costumes to stitched décor, it reminds me that crafting doesn't have to be perfect… just playful, whimsical, and full of personality! 

And… Ghosts seem to be everywhere this Halloween — from cheerful fabric prints to adorable baked treats! 👻 I couldn't resist sharing this sweet ghost cookie… it instantly reminded me of one of the pages from Love You to Pieces—the soft sock doll silhouette that feels a bit like Casper, the friendly ghost himself! The gentle, stitched shapes remind me of the book The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt, a modern classic that celebrates comfort, creativity, and connection.

The “characters” in Love You to Pieces may not be trick-or-treating, but I can't help seeing a little Halloween charm in their stitched smiles and handmade “costumes.” 🕸️ When I'm lost in the shadows…

…You can be my light” feels like the perfect sentiment for the spooky season — a reminder that friendship, like creativity, brightens the dark. 

As a lifelong collector of vintage textiles and ephemera, I especially love how Halloween brings out that sense of nostalgia… those charming old postcards, whimsical illustrations, and vintage trick-or-treat bags that instantly transport us to another era. From paper mâché lanterns to stitched costumes and handmade party favors, Halloween is truly the original DIY holiday!
