Me and Mr. B on the lake in Michigan, my Land that I Love Michigan towel project! |
Hello Fabric friends, With America celebrating its 250th year, it feels like the perfect summer to stitch something inspired by the places we love most. I've been dreaming about my summer trips Up North to Lake Michigan, packing embroidery projects for the road, and creating meaningful pieces that celebrate home, family, and favorite states. That is where my book, Land that I Love comes in! |
Within both the print Land that I Love book or easy downloadable PDF version, you'll find line art for all 50 states. That includes the shape of the state in two styles and sizes, the state name with font choices (plus the state slogan!), state flowers, birds and major cities…. even collegiate pennants! It's so easy to customize a perfect project for your favorite state! I even have a video with an overview of the book if you want to see more. |

Jack and Bob at our favorite spot and, my Land that I Love Ohio towel project! |
Create a custom tea towel or flour sack towel featuring Dad's favorite state for grilling season, lake weekends, and summer barbecues. This is a photo of my son Jack and my husband Bob at our favorite spot at the lake where they love to barbecue together. I stitched this Ohio tea towel for Jack since Ohio is home for him now — a simple handmade piece filled with memories of summers together. It's personal, practical, and handmade with love. |

My Colonial Patterns flour sack towels are one of my favorite surfaces for embroidery projects — soft, durable, beautifully oversized, and perfect for everything from kitchen stitching to personalized summer gifts. Whether you're creating a keepsake for family, adding handmade touches to your lake house, or stitching a favorite state for someone you love, they're such a fun canvas for creative summer projects. |
One of my absolute favorite tools for making my own transfers are the Aunt Martha's Hot Iron Transfer Pencil and Tracing Pad Kit from Colonial Patterns. Create your own transfer pattern designs by using the paper and pencil to trace your favorite design from a book, magazine, or coloring page, and turn it into your own hot iron transfer pattern. It's so easy and you can transfer it onto most fabrics! I'd love to know — what are your summer making plans this year? XO, Amy |
