New Friends to Share ❤️ Grab your popcorn and meet Brandy🔥Quilter on Fire

I am looking out to falling snow in Kansas City and thinking of the opportunity for a productive weekend as the cold keeps us in. If you are cozying up at home, I have a little entertainment to share. The month of January has been a busy one for me as I taped several podcasts and interviews. Yesterday I visited a local TV channel and met some new friends, Kerrigan and Shane the fabulous hosts of MYKCLIVE. Tap our photo to watch the episode. Speaking of friends, I have so many creative friends I am looking forward to connecting with at the upcoming QuiltCon in Raleigh, and one of those is the amazing quilt artist and podcaster, Brandy Maslowski. I had the joy of joining Brandy Maslowski on her Quilter on Fire YouTube channel to talk about my book, Love You to Pieces—how it came about, the stories behind the quilts, and the memories stitched into every page. We also talked about the ways quilting connects friends, family, and community.

 

This isn't the first chat I have had with Brandy! Check out a 2024 podcast that shares more about my journey collecting and creating with vintage quilts. We had a fun conversation discussing the trend of upcyling and patchwork in fashion. This photo was taken at QuiltCon 2023 in Atlanta features some fun inspiration for my AnyTime Topper pattern. At this year's QuiltCon Brandy and I will both be joining our pal and textile artist Michele Muska in the Oliso Booth #637 .

Sharing this book with Brandy gave me the opportunity to highlight a few precious pages and people, especially my Mom, Donna.  I love sharing stories about my mom's collection in the book—like this cute little Clown made from a kit she received when she was born in the 1940s, complete with a crib quilt.

As we celebrate National Quilt Shop Day, it's the perfect moment to recognize and support the local quilt shops that are the heart of our creative community—shops like Renee's House of Quilting in Williamsburg, Michigan and so many others that inspire, teach, and connect us. I love visiting Renee's shop when I spend time in the summer near Traverse City. Make an effort to visit and support a shop in your community this month.
