What a WONDERFUL few weeks in Houston! I had the joy of sharing Love You to Pieces: A Gift of Friendship at both Quilt Market and Quilt Festival surrounded by inspiring makers, creative friends, and so many smiles. The Oliso booth was full of color, energy, and friendship — the perfect setting to celebrate a book that honors handmade love and lifelong connections. |
From connecting with Tricia Camacho of PatternCon to chatting with the incredible nonprofit Sew Powerful, every conversation reminded me why our creative community means so much. I even met Matt Harr of Harr Craft Goods, who picked up a copy to gift to his mom… such a sweet moment! |
These photos capture it best: the laughter, the hugs, and the shared passion that stitches us all together. Each smile is a reminder that creativity and kindness go hand in hand just like the fabric friends featured in Love You to Pieces. |
“At this point, I can't decide whether to give my copy to a dear friend or to a toddler I know who's just becoming deeply attached to her favorite stuffies. I'm also tempted to make the doll—one of three vintage patterns you can download from a QR code in the book. One reason this book speaks so strongly to me is that my mother constantly made rag dolls and stuffed animals for her kids, and I was deeply attached to mine. I wore one Raggedy Ann completely to shreds and buried her in a shoebox—my mother made another. |
Wait until you see the ancient Raggedy Ann with wings in the book: her stitched smile is half worn away. I couldn't stop thinking about that famous line from The Velveteen Rabbit: 'When a child loves you for a long, long time—not just to play with, but REALLY loves you—then you become Real.' |
