What's fascinating is how they've managed this. AriZona never pays for glitzy advertising campaigns to gain consumer loyalty and is constantly ahead of the curve, carving out trends without the use of focus groups and market research. With a loyal following across various demographics, AriZona pulls its own inspiration from its fierce social media following and devoted fan base. It's basically the anti-corporate corporate strategy, and somehow it works.

The company's backstory is pretty wild too. Vultaggio said the name was originally Santa Fe, in reference to the adobe-style house he lived in, but he felt it did not look right on the packaging. He went with Arizona even though he had never been to the state and, in fact, had not even traveled west of the Mississippi River. So yeah, the Arizona tea company was named by a guy who'd never been to Arizona. That's either brilliant branding or complete chaos-probably both.

But here's what really gets me: Don Vultaggio co-founded AriZona Iced Tea in 1992 and hasn't raised its 99-cent price tag since, which he called his
