Editor's Take

There's something genuinely special about stumbling across a business that gets it-and Arlo & Co absolutely gets it. Founded in 2014, this Melbourne-based company has carved out a distinctive niche in personalised gifts, but they're not just another custom printing shop churning out generic mugs.

What sets them apart? It's the attention to detail that borders on obsessive. They print photos onto beautiful birch wood and bamboo products, creating pieces that feel more like heirloom keepsakes than typical gifts. The husband-and-wife team behind the brand, along with their small but dedicated crew, approaches each order like it's for their own family.

And honestly, the customer reviews tell the whole story. People aren't just satisfied-they're genuinely moved by what they receive. One customer mentioned how "the quality was incredible and I found the customer service unbelievably good", while another praised their ability to deliver a last-minute 18th birthday gift with exceptional craftsmanship.

The range is impressive too. From custom-engraved wooden photo frames and monogrammed leather wallets to personalised flower presses and keepsake boxes, everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than mass-produced. They choose high-quality materials and timeless techniques, creating artisan quality at affordable prices.

But here's what really caught my attention: they source local materials from Australian suppliers they know and trust. In an era of global supply chains and anonymous manufacturing, that kind of commitment to community relationships feels refreshingly authentic.

The production timeline is reasonable too-they recommend allowing 3 to 10 business days for items to be created, packaged and posted, though many orders ship much faster. For a completely custom operation, that's pretty impressive.
