Another week, another tip, and another free Photoshop tool you can use to improve and inspire your digital creations. | Let’s dive in 🙌 | | | | | Today’s Tip: | The Art of Tearing, with Photoshop | Insight from Adobe | Making a ripped paper edge in your artwork may help add a layer of mystery in your art. | Here are the quick and simple steps to creating the appearance of torn paper with Adobe Photoshop: | Tear it: Use the Lasso (L) tool to draw the jagged edge across your art.
Show what’s left: Apply a layer mask to hide the area not selected.
New layer: Add a new layer to serve as the simulated paper edge.
Fill it: Select the paper edge layer and use the Paint Bucket (G) to fill the new layer with white. Get Edgy: Use the Move tool to bring the paper edge up. Make it Real: Use the Warp tool to customize the shape of the ripped edge. Add Depth: Select the paper edge layer and use the Paint Bucket (G) to fill the new layer with white. Texture it: Drag a textured image to the new layer just above the Paper edge layer. Then use the option (Alt) key to clip paper texture to the paper edge. Drag it: Drag a contrasting picture into the image and move the layer to the bottom to complete the composition. Frame it: Go to Pictorem to get any of your pictures, artwork and masterpiece framed:
