Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Barefoot Dreams - they've basically figured out how to bottle comfort and sell it at a premium. And honestly? People can't get enough of it.

Founded back in 1994, this Malibu-born brand started with a simple idea: what if loungewear could actually be luxurious? Founder Annette Cook set out to create a line of children's products that married her design philosophy with a commitment to family. She sought out the silkiest washable satins and coziest knits, and her first product - the Signature Receiving Blanket - became an outstanding success that turned Barefoot Dreams into a nationally recognized brand.

But let's talk about what really sets them apart. That signature CozyChic fabric everyone raves about? It's not just marketing hype. Their collection includes ultra-soft blankets and throws, pillows, robes, loungewear, apparel, candles, and accessories for everyone from adults to babies and pets, found at 5-star resorts and spas, major department stores, and upscale boutiques around the world. They've been named one of Oprah's Favorite Things - and not just once. They've made Oprah's prestigious list six times, with their CozyChic 3 Pair Sock Set being chosen as one of her top items.

The price point definitely makes you pause - we're talking blankets that can run well over $100. But here's where it gets interesting: people keep coming back. The brand has cultivated this almost cult-like following of customers who swear by the quality and longevity of the products. They've even expanded into licensed Disney collections, because apparently cozy Mickey Mouse blankets are exactly what the world needed.

In summer 2020, they opened their first brick-and-mortar flagship store in Malibu, creating what they describe as a warm, welcoming destination rooted in nature. They expanded into a second retail location in Malibu in 2021. It's kind of genius when you think about it - letting people actually touch and feel the products before dropping that kind of cash.

What's also worth noting is their commitment to giving back. They donate time, product, and resources to countless organizations including The Wunder Project, Baby2Baby, Operation Smile, Susan G. Komen, Heal The Bay, and the Boys and Girls Club. They've joined forces with (RED) to fight global health emergencies, and with each purchase from their Covered in Prayer Collection, a portion goes to The WunderGlo Foundation for colon cancer research.

The brand's aesthetic is very California-casual-meets-luxury-spa. Everything's designed to make you feel like you're wrapped in a cloud while still looking put-together enough to answer the door. And with over 30 years in the business, they've clearly figured out the formula for turning "I'll just lounge around the house" into an aspirational lifestyle choice.
