Editor's Take

So here's the thing about bareMinerals-they basically invented the whole clean beauty movement before anyone even knew what that meant. Back in 1976, when most makeup was heavy and full of questionable ingredients, these folks were already grinding up minerals and saying "hey, what if foundation actually made your skin better?"

And honestly? They were onto something. Their award-winning mineral makeup and skincare products have this weird magic where you can literally sleep in their foundation (they even trademarked "Makeup so pure you can sleep in it™"). Try doing that with your typical drugstore foundation and see what happens to your pillowcase.

The brand's gotten pretty sophisticated over the years. They've got new products like the bareMinerals Nourishing Lip Oil, and their #1 tinted moisturizer now comes in a jumbo size. But what's really cool is how they've stuck to their guns about clean formulations while still delivering serious performance.

Their whole "Power of Good" philosophy isn't just marketing fluff-they genuinely believe every little choice makes a big difference, and they're here to help you take care of your skin, beauty, and wellbeing through clean makeup that's full of what's good and free of what harms.

What sets them apart is this obsession with making makeup that actually improves your skin over time. Their world-famous foundations, including the iconic ORIGINAL Foundation SPF 15, give long-wearing coverage with the natural look of beautiful skin in clean formulas that will improve the appearance of skin over time. It's like skincare disguised as makeup, which is pretty genius when you think about it.

The brand's been through some changes-Shiseido sold bareMinerals and two other US cosmetics brands to private equity firm Advent International for $700 million-but they're still cranking out products that beauty lovers swear by. And with annual revenue reaching $750M as of May 2025, clearly people are still buying into the mineral makeup revolution they started almost 50 years ago.
