So here's the thing about Bed Bath & Beyond-it's basically the retail equivalent of a phoenix rising from the ashes, except with more throw pillows and less mythology.

The company everyone knew and loved (or at least tolerated for those famous 20% off coupons) went belly-up in April 2023. Filed for bankruptcy, closed all 1,500+ stores, the whole nine yards. But plot twist: Overstock swooped in, bought the brand name and intellectual property, and relaunched it as an online-only operation in August 2023.

And honestly? It's kind of working. The new Bed Bath & Beyond keeps that same "everything for your home" vibe but without the overwhelming warehouse-sized stores where you'd inevitably get lost looking for a simple shower curtain. Now it's all digital-cleaner interface, better search functionality, and you can still find those kitchen gadgets you didn't know you needed.

The transition wasn't exactly seamless, though. If you had store credit or returns from the old company, tough luck-those became worthless when the bankruptcy hit. The new operation only honors purchases made after August 1, 2023, with a standard 30-day return window. Gone are the days of their famously generous return policy where you could basically return anything, anytime, with or without a receipt.
