‘Tis the season, and we at Big Ears want to wish each and everyone of you a joyful and peaceful holiday as we move towards a New Year and a new Big Ears Festival. It will be our Lucky 13th Big Ears. Behind this year’s amazing lineup you’ll find many, many surprises, and we’ll start unwrapping some of them today, with more to come week after week.
We’ll dive into the marvels of “Éthiopiques” across performance, film, and conversation; our favorite trance-jazz-groove band SML settles into a multi-faceted, three-day residency, complete with an XL component… one can only imagine; Darkside’s Dave Harrington answers the question, “What is the space between Bitches Brew and Blues for Allah?”; Tunde Adebimpe steps outside TV On The Radio; Dave Douglas’s aptly named GIFTS Quintet—if you haven’t already noticed—is a supergroup; and who exactly will join Kikagaku Moyo’s Go Kurosawa in his “solo” performance at Big Ears?
All of this, and much, much more, coming your way as the festival countdown begins.
In the meantime, we would be remiss not to point out the obvious: Big Ears’ passes make an amazing gift for the music lovers in your life. Spread the joy of great live music!
Peace!
