Returns
What is the return window?
To qualify for a return or exchange, your item(s) must be received by BraceAbility within 30 days of your original purchase date and meet our condition requirements. We allow up to 30 days from the original purchase date for returns.
Do I need a receipt to return an item?
You'll find your order number in your Order Confirmation email, or on the packing slip that came in your package. The order number serves as your receipt for returns.
Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Items with noticeable odors (such as smoke, perfume, or other scents), visible debris, or other indications of improper handling or wear cannot be restocked and are therefore ineligible for return or exchange. Due to the personal nature of our products, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality and hygiene.
How will I receive my refund?
We generally process returns and exchanges within 1-3 business days of receiving the item. Please allow up to ten business days for the refund to appear on your original payment method. We will refund the full product cost and applicable sales tax, but unfortunately we cannot refund shipping costs from your original order.
Who pays for return shipping?
The cost of your label will be deducted from your refund (or you can purchase your own label, if you prefer.)
Editor's Take
So here's the thing about BraceAbility-they're basically the scrappy underdog of the orthopedic brace world, and honestly? That's exactly what makes them interesting.
Founded in 2012 in the basement of Shaun and Kendra's home in Cedar Falls, Iowa, they've since moved out of the basement and expanded to an office and warehouse. It's one of those classic American startup stories, except instead of disrupting ride-sharing or food delivery, they're helping people walk without pain. Which, when you think about it, is way more meaningful than getting your burrito delivered in 15 minutes.
What struck me most about BraceAbility is their refreshingly honest approach to customer service. If you have an issue, or if you're bored and want to chat, feel free to call us at 866-712-7808 to speak to Janet, Tara or Jim over the phone! I mean, when's the last time a company literally invited you to call them if you're bored? That's either supreme confidence in their customer service team or a slightly concerning lack of boundaries-but I'm leaning toward the former.
The company's mission is beautifully simple: "Getting back to life might mean taking your first steps out of bed in the morning pain-free, or walking your dog without your knee hurting, or going for a 5-mile bike ride. It's different for everyone, and each customer's unique scenario is equally important to us." There's something genuinely touching about that philosophy. They're not just selling knee braces; they're selling the possibility of normalcy.
And the numbers back up their growth story. BraceAbility had more than 10 million visitors to its website in 2017 from all 50 states and 10 other countries, and saw a 60 percent growth in sales last year, selling 150,000 braces. That's a lot of people getting back to their lives, one brace at a time.
But here's what I really appreciate-they're not trying to be something they're not. Founded in 2011, BraceAbility is a small business located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, focused on providing the latest and most affordable orthopedic braces and supports direct to consumers at wholesale prices. No fancy Silicon Valley headquarters, no venture capital buzz words. Just a Iowa-based company making quality products accessible to people who need them.
The fact that they've managed to carve out a significant niche in the medical device space while maintaining that small-town, personal touch is pretty remarkable. In a world of faceless corporations and automated customer service, BraceAbility feels refreshingly human.
