Returns

What is the return window?
Brooks offers the Run Happy Promise-a promise that you'll love your gear, and if you don't, they will take it back for up to 90 days after purchase. You can run in it, sweat in it, inside, outside, in the rain-if it doesn't perform the way it should, send it back.

Do I need a receipt to return an item?
For items purchased directly from Brooks, a receipt may not be necessary as your order can be tracked via their system. However, for items bought at retail stores, it's best to discuss return options with the store first.

Who pays for return shipping?
Brooks offers free returns with no shipping or re-stocking fee. You can download and print a prepaid return label, and you will also receive an email from Brooks Running with the subject line "You've started your return" that contains a link to your return label.

How will I receive my refund?
Refunds will be confirmed via email no later than two business days from the receipt of the return. Please allow three to five business days for the credit to be processed through banking systems to your original form of payment.

How do I start a return online?
To start a return, visit the Returns center, enter your order number and email address, and click "Start return." Click on the item you would like to return and select the return reason in the pop-up panel. Repeat this process for any additional items you'd like to return.

Editor's Take

Here's the thing about Brooks Running-they're kind of obsessed. And not in that casual "we like running" way, but in the "we've been doing this for over 110 years and we're still not done perfecting it" way.

Founded back in 1914, Brooks started out making all kinds of athletic gear. But around 2001, they made this gutsy decision to ditch everything else and focus solely on running. Just running. Nothing more, nothing less. That's basically like a restaurant deciding to only serve one dish-except they're so confident in that dish, they know you'll keep coming back.

The company's headquartered in Seattle, right along the Burke-Gilman Trail next to Lake Union. Their building's LEED-certified, which means they're serious about sustainability. And get this-they're actually owned by Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett's company. So yeah, they've got some serious backing.

What really sets Brooks apart is their whole "Run Happy Promise." You get 90 days to test their gear-and I mean really test it. Run in it, sweat in it, get it dirty. If you don't love it, send it back. Free returns, no restocking fees. They'll take back worn shoes. That's confidence.

Their shoe lineup is pretty extensive. The Ghost has been their bestseller for years-it's that reliable friend who never lets you down. The Adrenaline GTS is for folks who need a bit more support, and it's been around for over 25 years. Then there's the Glycerin if you want maximum cushioning, and the Hyperion line for speed demons who want to feel fast.

Brooks isn't just about selling shoes, though. They've got this whole research lab where they study biomechanics and runner behavior. They test everything with real runners-different body types, different running styles, different goals. Every groove on the sole, every stitch in the fabric has a purpose.

The company employs somewhere between 1,000 and 5,000 people globally, with offices in Seattle, Amsterdam, and a distribution center that handles shipments across North America. Their Seattle headquarters has locker rooms because, well, everyone there actually runs. It's not just marketing-it's their lifestyle.

They're also pretty active in the running community. Brooks sponsors elite athletes, partners with running events (they recently teamed up with runDisney), and supports over 900 local running stores nationwide. They've got this Brooks Running Collective program for fitness influencers and content creators.

One interesting detail: their expected lifespan for running shoes is 300-500 miles, which they're upfront about. Sports bras and apparel? About 50 washes and 50 dries, roughly a year. They don't hide behind vague promises-they tell you exactly what to expect.

The brand's current tagline is "Let's Run There," which replaced their longtime "Run Happy" campaign. It's this invitation to find whatever place makes you feel most alive, whether that's a physical location, a headspace, or a personal goal.

Brooks has also launched some sustainability initiatives, including their ReStart program where they sell gently used shoes to extend the life of their gear and reduce environmental impact. They're taking a science-based approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across their entire supply chain.

So if you're looking for running gear from a company that's been perfecting their craft for more than a century, has the confidence to offer a 90-day worn-shoe return policy, and actually employs people who live and breathe running? Brooks might be worth checking out.
