Postgame Report

Sabres earn 11th win in their last 12 games

Zach Metsa’s first NHL goal stood as the winner as the Buffalo Sabres survived a late push from the Vancouver Canucks to earn a 5-3 victory at KeyBank Center on Tuesday.

The win was Buffalo’s 11th in the past 12 games and fifth straight on home ice.

The Sabres face the New York Rangers on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Madison Square Garden. MSG’s pregame coverage begins at 6:30 p.m.

The film premieres on the Sabres’ digital channels on Feb. 1. It will also air on MSG at a date to be announced.

Mrtka wins silver with Czechia

Defenseman Radim Mrtka – who was taken ninth overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2025 NHL Draft – won a silver medal at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship with Czechia.

Czechia scored two goals in the final two minutes of the third period but fell 4-2 to Sweden in the final game on Monday at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota.
