Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Buffbunny Collection-it's basically what happens when a fitness influencer decides she's tired of activewear that doesn't actually work for real women. And honestly? It's kind of brilliant.

Founded by Heidi Somers in 2016, this brand started in the most relatable way possible: a woman in her living room who was frustrated with the options out there. Heidi, who goes by @buffbunny on Instagram (where she's got like 2 million followers, by the way), wasn't some fashion mogul. She was a fitness YouTuber who'd built a massive community by being real about her weight loss journey and gym struggles. That authenticity? It's baked into everything Buffbunny does.

The brand's whole vibe is about inclusivity-and not in that performative way where companies just slap "for everyone" on their marketing. They actually design pieces that are custom-milled, sustainably crafted, and rigorously tested on real women to ensure the perfect fit from XXS to XXXL. Notice how they test on actual diverse body types, not just one sample size scaled up and down. That's the difference between talking about inclusivity and actually doing it.

What really sets them apart is the limited-edition drop model. They currently have a customer base of over 100,000 active members who regularly engage with the brand on social media platforms. These aren't just customers-they're basically a cult following who wait for new collections like they're concert tickets. The scarcity creates hype, sure, but it also means the brand can focus on quality over mass production.

And speaking of quality, people either love or have strong opinions about the price point. You're looking at leggings around $74 and sports bras around $48. Not cheap. But the fabric is supposedly buttery soft (everyone mentions this), squat-proof (crucial), and designed to actually stay in place during workouts. The trade-off is that you're paying for custom fabrics and ethical manufacturing-not fast fashion churned out in questionable conditions.

The return policy is pretty standard but has one catch: returns are free with the purchase of Package Protection & Free Returns powered through Redo, but if you don't purchase this with your order, the costs of your return shipping will be deducted from your refund. So basically, you're gambling on whether you'll need to return something. Smart business move? Absolutely. Customer-friendly? Debatable.

Here's what's interesting about Heidi's approach-she's not trying to be Lululemon or Gymshark. The company has 11-50 employees and is headquartered in Sugar Land, TX. It's still relatively small, which means they can pivot quickly and stay connected to their community. That community aspect is huge. They host meet-ups, feature customer testimonials, and Heidi herself is constantly engaging on social media. It feels less like buying from a corporation and more like supporting someone's dream.

The sustainability angle is worth mentioning too. While they don't plaster it everywhere, the brand emphasizes ethical manufacturing and custom fabric development to reduce waste. In an industry notorious for overproduction and sketchy labor practices, that's actually meaningful.

There's something refreshing about a brand that started from genuine frustration with the market and actually delivers on its promises most of the time. Buffbunny isn't trying to be everything to everyone-it's trying to be the brand Heidi wished existed when she started her fitness journey. And for over 100,000 women, that's apparently exactly what they needed.
