Lightly sweetened with organic coconut nectar, each jar holds a delectably creamy spread of fresh-roasted heirloom Mission almonds, seasoned simply with sea salt, vanilla, Cloud Forest Cardamom and Royal Cinnamon.
Inspired by the lush aromas and flavors of freshly baked Swedish cardamom buns (kardemummabullar), Cardamom Bun Almond Butter is warm, cozily spiced and perfect for pairing with brioche toast and jam, buttermilk pancakes, banana bread, or granola and fruit. “My favorite way to eat it is as a dip for a sliced apple,” reviews our customer Beth, “It's just like eating an apple pie!”
Mark Bittman is also a big fan: “Given that the spices are from Burlap & Barrel, and that all of Big Spoon’s offerings so far have been super, it’s not surprising that this is impossible to stop eating.”
Cardamom Bun Almond Butter highlights two of Big Spooner Roasters’ co-founder Mark Overbay’s favorite Burlap & Barrel spices: “It's been such a fun recipe to develop, and I think the Cloud Forest Cardamom and Royal Cinnamon work beautifully with the fresh-roasted Mission almond butter base.”
Mark recommends storing the nut butter in a cool and dry place, out of direct sunlight. Refrigeration is not necessary but stirring is: “We don’t use palm oil, hydrogenated oils, or other fillers, so if you eat our nut butter infrequently, you’ll notice natural oil separation over time. When stirring, stir ALL the way to the bottom of the jar and work your way up. Important ingredients like salt and those beautiful B&B spices will sink to the bottom as the oil naturally rises to the top.”
