Floral-sweet, umami-spicy and endlessly savory, Hot Pot Seasoning is our brand-new springtime ode to the colorful, dazzling flavors and hearty vivacious atmosphere of Chinese hot pot. Made in collaboration with chef and author Natasha Pickowicz in celebration of her latest cookbook, Everyone Hot Pot, this versatile blend is inspired by her favorite meal in the world! | | When friends and family gather around a large pot of constantly simmering broth to cook, chat and enjoy bites of food together hours at a time, hot pot is as much a meal as it is a party and celebration of love and community. “I've been tinkering with Burlap & Barrel all winter on the perfect spice blend that captures the exhilarating magic of hot pot,” explains Natasha. “Lately, I've been blooming it in rich bone broths, nutty dipping sauces, and yeasted doughs; the harmony of sweet, salty, spicy, and savory notes is everything I want for my hot pot feasts.”
| | To use as a broth base, add 1 tablespoon of Hot Pot to hot oil and stir to bloom the spices, then add 1 quart of water and simmer for 5 minutes. From there, it’s ready for whatever you’re in the mood to cook and eat: add in noodles, veggies, mushrooms or meat—truly anything! You can use Hot Pot all year round in cucumber salad, savory breads and dumpling fillings like Natasha does, but there’s no limit to where this blend belongs. We also love it as a: - dipping salt for steak, crispy potatoes, roasted veggies
- all-in-one seasoning for fish, tofu or fried rice
- tableside topper for fried eggs, buttered noodles or grain salads
- sauce starter. Try stirring some into equal parts peanut butter and water for a quick peanut sauce!
