Here comes crunchy nibbles of saline delight: Salina Crystal Salt is back in stock! Salina Crystal was our first foray into the world of salt five years ago, and it’s since become a fan fave for its unique gem-like structure and refined flavor: “I used to not give much thought to salt,” writes our customer Shawn, “but the big crunchy crystals add a texture and taste that makes this an experience to savor.” | | Salina Crystal Salt comes from Syracuse “Salt City”, NY, known since the 18th century for its shoreline salt springs. The massive salt deposit in the Salina Formation (formed 300 million years ago!) made Syracuse the epicenter for salt production in the United States in the 1800s. | | All of that history is preserved in the pristine salt crystals that David and his daughter Libby produce by hand: once the salt water is pulled via an underground aquifer, it’s gently evaporated to form cubic towers of salt. Scooped by hand and laid out on trays to dry, Salina Crystal Salt is carefully sifted to preserve its organic crystalline structure and exquisite texture, which our customer Brian has termed “crunchy bits of salty heaven.” | | Also back in stock: Wind-Blown Sea Salt from Tanzania’s Swahili Coast. With the texture of fluffy, fresh fallen snow—easily indented by a curious poke of the finger—it mingles vividly on the tongue to produce a melty buttery flavor that lingers on the palate. Rich with minerals and whimsically formed by the coast’s northern Kaskazi winds, these fine grains of sea salt bring a refreshing lift to everyday cooking and baking, perfect for finishing and garnishing. | | It’s now available in both our standard spice jar and big containers. If you know you love salt, grab the big container while we have ‘em—they go fast! | | Questions? Feedback? Ideas? We love to hear from you. Just reply to this email.
