In This Newsletter: The Difference Between Origin Blends and Collaboration Blends
If you’re new to exploring our ever-expanding spice world (we now have 140+ flavors!) and don’t know where to start, today’s newsletter will guide you through key differences between our Origin Blends and our limited edition Collaboration Blends.
Origin Blends are exclusive spice blends made at origin, from start to finish. This means that all the spices used in each Origin Blend are grown, harvested and blended by experts local to the land. Each blend carries both terroir and culinary history through traditional flavors and spice recipes. Let our Tandoori, Curry and Chaitake you to the night markets of Stone Town, Zanzibar, or Five Spice to Hanoi, Vietnam!
For a flavorful vegan-friendly meal, use our Turkish Kebab Origin Blend in partner supplier Ali’s Çig Köfterecipe, or garnish juicy summer tomatoes with Herbes de Provence before roasting over low-heat for Tomatoes Provençal (to be served with crusty bread!). Or, try this Sri Lankan Beef Curryrecipe sent to us by our Roasted Curry partner farmer that pairs amazingly with rice.
Beyond just harvesting and shipping individual spices to us, our Origin Blend partners are paid for every additional step in creating these time-honored blends, all the way through blending and proprietary formulation. In this way, Origin Blends are uniquely positioned to help smallholder farmers expand their businesses and make more money on an advanced, valued-added level.
Every collaborator brings their own ideas and persona to the table, offering reinterpretations on classic flavors grounded in historical nostalgia and whimsical innovation. Their goal? To make cooking with tasty spices more fun than ever and get you experimenting without fear.
Collab Blends began with Cardoz Legacy Masalas in 2020, which have remained bestsellers among fan-faves like Sohla + Ham’s Nothing Hidden Ranch and Molly Yeh’s Spiced Sprinkles. Every collaboration blend is a chance to introduce our ethically-sourced spices to a brand-new audience, playing a crucial role in connecting our smallholder farmers to new customers and high-value markets.
