Whatever YOU are passionate about, there’s a camp, art project, or workshop for that. And if there isn't, maybe this is your calling to make it happen? Then they bring these skills and passions home to enrich their lives and communities. Read on to meet Burners whose fascinations extend from haikus to faraway galaxies, and hear why they bring their passions to Burning Man. Next, tell us about yourself — who you are, where you’re from, how you travel to BRC, and other important details — by filling out the Black Rock City 2025 Census. Finally, we’d love to hear feedback — the crunchy and the smooth — about your neighborhood and neighbors in Black Rock City. (Photo courtesy of BWB) This is the Official Burning Man 2026 Theme and How It Was Chosen Katie Bain writes in Billboard: These themes are less mandates for how to dress or decorate a camp, but instead, says Burning Man Project Director of the organization’s Philosophical Center, Stuart Mangrum, who designs each year’s theme, operate on three levels. They provide, Mangrum says, “fertile ground” for artists to take inspiration from for the many small and large-scale art projects created each year. They must also be a concept that’s accessible to Burners and also somehow reflect or react to the general zeitgeist of the global Burning Man community. Father-and-son Zoom and Robin Newhouse are at the helm of the observatory that houses telescopes for viewing planets, galaxies, and even our sun. The observatory’s theme camp serves as an expert nexus: It is home to Space Talks with physicists and professors, and a museum of meteorites. They bring these offerings to Regional Events, festivals, and eclipses worldwide... but they save the observatory for Black Rock City. Meet the Technologist and Maker Behind Center Camp's Verse-O-Matic When passion meets purpose, magic happens. Hero is a jack-of-all-trades — woodworking, metalworking, even coding. He combined those skills with a love for poetry to create a machine that sparked joy for everyone who encountered it. What made it special? Each poem was unique, written in the moment, and tailored to the person who stepped up to the Verse-O-Matic.
