| No images? Click here Volume 29, Issue #11 | March 13, 2025 What makes Black Rock City unlike any gathering of humans anywhere on the planet? Where to even start? People from all walks of life come together of their own accord to build and enjoy a fully functioning creative city, only to take it all down eight days later. While its ephemerality is most unusual, without the hundreds of participatory, community-built art installations that rise every year, Black Rock City may just be a bunch of wildly imaginative geeks playing city. Oh, the art! We are welcoming a whole new playa filled with creations to climb, touch, hear, play, to marvel at and explore. The Black Rock City 2025 Honoraria art projects have been announced. Read the Journal announcement to tease your eyes and imagination. Then listen to the accompanying Burning Man LIVE podcast interview with Director of Art Katie Hazard. Honoraria-funded art is possible thanks to generous donors, and BRC participants like YOU who choose to buy higher-priced tickets. Hold your horses! Before you jump ahead to the mind-altering art, take a gander at the other fresh goods here. Catch inspiration in a Journal story about Burners leveling up their Black Rock City participation in small and adorable ways, bringing friends together to share their passions. You can too! Is your dance card full yet? 2025 BRC Honoraria Art: Fostering Connection & Delighting the Senses Get ready to encounter the awe-inspiring, thought-provoking and whimsical artworks selected for the Black Rock City 2025 Honoraria program! Whether you’re drawn to climbing, fire, storytelling, meditation, trippy lights, high-energy play, or a quiet place to rest, there’s something for everyone to explore and experience. This year's 76 Honoraria art installations are supported by a total of $1.3 million granted directly to artists! We have so much gratitude to those who, through generous donations or higher price ticket purchases, helped fund the Honoraria art of Tomorrow Today. These projects are not fully funded by Burning Man Project. They need your support to build, finance, and make their way to Black Rock City. Connect and help out on the projects that call to you. There are also several hundred self-funded art projects for you to support. It feels good to make art happen! Read the 2025 Art Honoraria announcement Art: "The Moonlight Library” by James Gwertzman and The Moonlight Collective Black Rock City 2025 Ticket Sale Update Black Rock City 2025 tickets sales are on a roll. Compared to the same moment in previous years, we've sold more tickets than ever before (admittedly, holding a public ticket sale early in the year helped). Already tens of thousands of excited Burners have committed heart and soul to creating the Best Burning Man ever. The Stewards Sale for registered theme camps, art projects, mutant vehicles and other contributors closed Wednesday, March 12. Watch this space for the next public sale, expected in late April. Ticket Aid and Resilience Program applications are open. Ticket Aid offers reduced-priced tickets to participants who are on a limited income. Resilience makes Black Rock City possible for people severely affected by natural disasters or geopolitical conflict. Both programs are underwritten and made possible thanks to donations to Burning Man Project and generous purchases of higher-priced tickets. Drop by a Burning Man Community Forum in the cities listed in the intro to chat with us about bringing your friends or art collective to Black Rock City this year. We can’t wait to see you all on the playa.
