Its design by Spanish artist and architect Miguel Arraiz Garcia is deeply connected to the Black Rock Desert, drawing inspiration from a fractured rock — an opening to vulnerability, loss, and transformation. When you support the temple, you help fund materials, transportation, and the incredible team of builders and volunteers bringing this vision to life. At the intersection of Communal Effort, Self-Expression, and Immediacy, theme camps gift a uniquely decommodified ‘third place’ of offerings and ambiance. At this annual symposium, staff and volunteers discuss the art and science of organizing theme camps and sharing their gifts with participants. Plug into the latest Burning Man LIVE episode for highlights from the 2025 symposium, rich with learnings from Black Rock City leadership and members of the Placement team.
