In a world increasingly designed for ease, Burning Man Project CEO Marian Goodell's latest op-ed in the Reno Gazette-Journal asks a simple but important question: as life becomes optimized in so many ways, how do we ensure it remains meaningful? Marian writes: We care differently about something we helped build. We connect differently with people we have worked alongside. Burning Man offers one example of what happens when participation becomes the expectation rather than the exception. Every year, tens of thousands of people come together to create something none of them could achieve alone. Richmond-built Beanstalk Will Rise 50 Feet over Burning Man Kathy Chouteau writes in the Richmond Standard: At Seaport Art Studios in Richmond, the skeleton of a fairytale is taking shape in steel, wood and wild ambition. Artist Sean Orlandoβs newest large-scale Burning Man project, Above & Below, is being built inside the expansive Richmond arts hub he co-owns and helps lead. βThe house at the top is representative of the child within each of us,β Orlando said. βItβs important for us as adults to remember what it was likeβ before bills, responsibilities and lifeβs heavier machinery take over. That childlike spirit, he said, is βfilled with curiosity,β βimagination,β βinnovation,β and βoptimism for life and community.β (Photo by Kathy Chouteau) The Wheel Deal DMV Town Hall β July 11 β Online Where: Online, RSVP here The Department of Mutant Vehiclesβ Wheel Deal is an ongoing conversation with the community about mutant vehicles in Black Rock City.
