If you are headed to Black Rock City this year, these editions are essential reading for YOU. Yes, you too, crusty wizened one. Over the next six weeks, we'll cover what you need to know to prepare for Black Rock City — getting there and back, encounters with law enforcement, health and safety, kids and families, greening your Burn, art, and much more. Welcome to the Kids and Family Special Edition JRS for Black Rock City 2024. Can I bring my kid to Black Rock City? Heck yes! Little whippersnappers have been an integral part of Burning Man since the very beginning. When Larry Harvey and Jerry James burned the first Man in 1986, their five-year-old sons built a Burning Dog alongside their dads' human-shaped effigy. Black Rock City is full of adventures and events for kids — there's even a dedicated village called Kidsville just for kids and families. Children 12 and under enter Black Rock City free of charge. They require a Kid's Ticket; Registration for Kids Tickets will open on July 17 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 9pm CET. The city’s infrastructure supports the presence of families and our community has a stellar history of taking care of its wild, wonderful children.
