Click here Volume 29, Issue #30 | August 20, 2025 A wise jackrabbit once said: You are at Burning Man the minute you embark on your journey to the playa — when you get in the car, board the airplane, or get on the bus. This serves as a reminder to embrace Immediacy and humor, play and patience on your journey, wherever it may lead you. If you are on your way to Black Rock City, please read this edition carefully. It contains essential information for traveling safely — including updates from the Reno Airport, a list of authorized locations for dropping off your trash on the way home, and channels that share critical updates on traffic and other conditions that can impact travel. If there are 10 things you take away from this edition:
Was that clear enough? Good. We want you to arrive in Black Rock City safely, and return to your other home the same way. For those of you arriving early in BRC with a Setup Access Pass (SAP), remember to print your SAPs before leaving home! Scanning SAPs from your phone is not a reliable way to enter BRC and causes delays at Gate. Don't end up in D Lot! If you have an interaction with law enforcement while on the road or in BRC and have feedback (positive or negative), please fill out one of our Law Enforcement Feedback Forms at Playa Info, Black Rock Ranger HQ at 5:45 and Esplanade, or online while details are still fresh in your mind. YES! You can now buy a Vehicle Pass without also buying a ticket. For procrastinators, there are also tickets for sale at $950 and up, no need to register. Want a fun listen during your drive? Respect Our Neighbors Check the BRC Dashboard for Travel Conditions Traffic and travel conditions in and out of BRC can change dramatically, due to weather, highway conditions, the volume of vehicles arriving and leaving... Plan your travel by paying close attention to these channels:
The Wadsworth Bypass Opens August 15 The Wadsworth Bypass will be opening on August 15! This new road offers a direct route from SR 427 to SR 447, just east of the I-80 Smoke Shop and Gas Station, making your journey to Black Rock City faster and easier. It also helps reduce traffic and disruption through the Tribal town of Wadsworth, which is especially important during Black Rock City's heavy traffic periods. You’ll see clear signs pointing the way, so there’s no need to drive through Wadsworth on your way to Black Rock City unless you need to make a stop at any of the local businesses there. U.S. Citizens Flying Domestically: Be sure to Pack Your REAL ID New for 2025: If you’re a U.S. citizen, as of May 7, 2025, you’ll need a REAL ID-compliant form of identification (or another TSA‑approved document such as a U.S. passport, passport card, or military ID) to board domestic flights within the U.S. Heed These Updates From the Reno Airport Are you flying through the Reno Airport on your way to or from Black Rock City? Then listen up, we have some important information for you! Before BRC
Picking up friends at the airport? Oversized vehicles are not allowed to wait curbside. Please park that truck or mutant vehicle in the Free Waiting lot or hotel overflow parking area. Vertical clearance for the skybridge is 14'6"; vertical clearance for the curbside canopies is 13'. After BRC
The Reno airport will be accepting bicycle donations after Black Rock City. Bikes donated will benefit the Reno Bike Project. Look for the bike corral at the Burner Express Bus drop-off and pick-up location at 1500 Terminal Way just north of the airport terminal. At the airport, give yourself extra time to explore the Airport's annual Burning Man exhibit at depARTures Gallery in the C-Concourse hallway. Reno Airport has their own webpage with useful information for Burners. Renting a Trailer or RV? Read the Rental Terms before You Book! Thinking about renting a trailer or RV through a share site such as Share My Coach or RVShare? Many privately-owned rentals on these platforms specifically prohibit use at Burning Man. In recent years, RV owners have come to Black Rock City with law enforcement assistance to reclaim their RVs during the event because the rental contract said “No Burning Man!” Check the terms before booking! Visit these Burner-friendly Businesses on Your Way through Reno The Reno Burner's Guide is chock-a-block with local and even Burner-run businesses that would benefit from your support as you stock up and stage for your adventure in the dust. Learn more about Reno, find helpful resources, and tap into hot stops for costumes, food, and playa supplies. Do Not Show Up at the Gate in a Taxi, Rideshare Company, or Hired Car If you’re planning to arrive in BRC in a taxi, via a ride share company, or hired car, please note: you cannot be dropped off at the Gate or anywhere near Black Rock City. You WILL be turned away and sent back to Gerlach. The last drop-off point available is Bruno’s in Gerlach. From there, you will need to find a ride into BRC with a friendly playa-bound Burner. Alternatives to Driving
Troubleshooting — Preparing to Leave Leave Nevada Beautiful: Trash, Recycling & RV Dump Locations Do not dump trash at locations such as rest stops, RV parks, hotels, convenience stores, or worse — in front of people’s homes. Dispose of your trash before coming to Tahoe. Do not leave trash in the Tahoe / Truckee area, and remove food and tasty trash from your vehicle — you can attract bears! Please rely on this network of Burner-friendly authorized trash, recycling, and RV grey/black water servicing facilities to legally dispose of your waste on your way home. Donate Your Extra Non-perishable Food to the Tribal Food Program Keep the gifting spirit alive. As you prepare to leave Black Rock City, hold onto your extra non-perishable food for donation to the Pyramid Lake Tribal Food Program. They welcome your extra non-perishables and non-food items such as unopened hygiene or cleaning products. Drop-off points in Nixon and Wadsworth will be open during Exodus to collect what you can share on your way out. Please store food safely before donating. Most-needed items include: water, plant-based milk, grains, canned soups or entrees, spices, and proteins.
