Exciting news for the C of Red! 

Earlier today, the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation and the OEG Sports & Entertainment announced that Calgary and Edmonton were selected to host the World Cup of Hockey 2028. This exciting news marks another milestone in the NHL and NHLPA’s plan to expand premier international best-on-best hockey competitions. 

In February 2028, the hockey world will arrive in Calgary. The tournament will feature seven games at Scotia Place, including six round robin matchups and one elimination game, giving Flames fans the opportunity to experience world-class international hockey inside the new heart of entertainment in Calgary and the future home of the Calgary Flames. with the other tournament games hosted in Edmonton and Prague, Czechia.  

For the C of Red, it will be one of the first opportunities to welcome hockey fans from across Canada and around the world into Scotia Place, showcasing our city, our fans, and our new home on the global stage. 

Hockey fans everywhere will be watching as the sport’s biggest stars compete for national pride. When the puck drops in Calgary, the energy of the C of Red will be on full display. The world will be watching and Calgary will be ready!
