Editor's Take

So here's the thing about ChappyWrap-they're basically the blanket company that figured out what everyone's been searching for without really knowing it. Founded in 2006, ChappyWrap is dedicated to making the best blankets ever, with the name inspired by Chappaquiddick-or "Chappy" to locals-a special place on Martha's Vineyard, close to the label's founding offices.

The backstory is kind of perfect, actually. Years ago, the founders' family owned a blanket so well-loved it became vital to their family and home-when they weren't feeling well, it was the only blanket that made them feel better, and they curled up with it (and fought over it!), finding comfort in it daily, becoming something of a family heirloom, but years later, when they wanted to buy a similar blanket, they couldn't find one that came close to it. Everything lacked the quality, warmth, size and durability of the original. So they decided to create their own.

And that's where things get interesting. These blankets are uniquely woven with a plush, natural-cotton blend and high-performance fibers, produced with unparalleled craftsmanship in factories in Germany and Poland. But it's not just about where they're made-it's how. The designs are woven, not printed or dyed, with individual yarns twisted and fed into Jacquard looms so that the cotton is next to your skin, with the fill fiber spun inside the cotton yarns, for durability and to prevent yarn breakage-this unique weave is why your ChappyWrap can last a lifetime.

Here's a detail most people don't know: To finish the fabric, Chappies undergo a process called napping, which lifts the fibers from the top and passes the woven fabric over a roller, repeated anywhere from 8 to 16 times, making ChappyWraps softer and fuller than other Jacquard woven blankets. That's basically the blanket equivalent of hand-polishing a luxury car sixteen times.

The material blend is surprisingly specific-58% premium cotton, 35% acrylic, and 7% polyester, allowing for repeated washing while maintaining an extra soft feel, and resistant to shrinking, pilling, and static. Notice how they've engineered out basically every annoying thing that happens to regular blankets?

They offer multiple sizes too, from mini blankets (30x40) perfect for babies and strollers, to their family-size option (90x90) that can cover a queen bed. The signature "Chappy" size is 60x80, and they even have a lightweight version for warmer months. Prices typically hover around $160 for their original-size blankets, with smaller sizes starting at $85.

The company proudly calls Portland, Maine home, which serves as the inspiration behind their brand and the heart of their giveback endeavors. They've collaborated with everyone from artists to the American Cancer Society, creating limited-edition designs that sell out fast. And yeah, people really do collect these things-one reviewer mentioned owning 13 of them.

The whole operation feels very New England in the best way-quality-obsessed, unpretentious, built to last. They're not trying to be the cheapest option. They're trying to be the blanket you fight your family members over, the one that's still soft after a hundred washes, the one that somehow makes your couch feel like the best place on earth.
