Returns
What is the return window?
If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase, your unworn items may be returned within 30 days of the date printed on the receipt.
Are there any items that are non-returnable?
If you purchased from a retail store or a website other than chineselaundry.com, clbylaundry.com, or dirtylaundrybrand.com, please handle your return with the original place of purchase. We guarantee against manufacturer's defects within 60 days of purchase, which does not cover normal wear and tear.
How will I receive my refund?
We will confirm your refund has been processed via e-mail. Chinese Laundry members will receive a refund for the total amount of the returned item less any reward amount(s) redeemed (applied proportionately to the total purchase amount based on the number of items purchased).
Who pays for return shipping?
To make returns easy, we include a prepaid return label with your purchase. Return shipping is free if you use our prepaid label. If you paid for shipping, these fees are non-refundable, due to the high cost of shipping.
Editor's Take
So here's the thing about Chinese Laundry-it's one of those brands that's been around way longer than you probably realize, quietly shaping what women's footwear looks like for decades. Founded in 1971 by Robert and Carol Goldman, this isn't some flash-in-the-pan Instagram brand. We're talking about a company that's seen disco, grunge, and now TikTok trends come and go.
What started as a wholesale shoe manufacturer has evolved into something much bigger. From its beginnings selling to mass merchants, Cels Enterprises has steadily expanded its influence in the fashion footwear industry, developing seven branded divisions within the Chinese Laundry family: Chinese Laundry, CL by Laundry, Dirty Laundry, CL Wash, Little Laundry, and Creative International. That's a lot of laundry, basically.
But what really makes them interesting right now is how they're adapting. Their styles are fun, modern, feminine and free-and they mean it. You'll find everything from sky-high platform heels to everyday flats, booties that work for fall, and strappy sandals for summer. The brand has this knack for hitting that sweet spot between trendy and wearable, which is harder than it sounds.
And get this-Taylor Swift was spotted wearing their butter yellow Tai Dress Sandal. The CMO literally set it as a stretch goal to get Swift in their shoes, and it happened. That's the kind of scrappy, ambitious energy that keeps a 50-year-old brand relevant.
They're also leaning hard into community building and digital innovation. The company's exploring everything from 360-degree product videos to loyalty programs, trying to figure out how a heritage footwear brand stays connected with customers who do most of their shopping from their phones. It's not always perfect-some customer reviews mention service hiccups-but you can see they're actively working to evolve.
Notice how they've positioned themselves? Not luxury, not fast fashion, but somewhere in that accessible-yet-stylish middle ground. You can find Chinese Laundry at Nordstrom, DSW, Famous Footwear, and their own website. Prices hover in that range where you're not breaking the bank, but you're getting something with actual design thought behind it.
The Los Angeles headquarters vibe fits too. This is California footwear through and through-a little bit edgy, a little bit laid-back, always chasing the next trend but with enough experience to know which ones will actually stick around.
