Editor's Take
So here's the thing about Christmas Central-it's basically what happens when a family decides to take their love of holiday decorating and turn it into one of the internet's biggest seasonal shopping destinations. And honestly? They've kind of nailed it.
Christmas Central is a division of Gordon Companies Inc., a family-owned and -operated business headquartered in Cheektowaga, New York. The company was started in 1977 by CEO Dave Gordon, who grew his warehouse wholesale deals to a small regional chain of popular retail stores later named Dave's Christmas Wonderland. The family took the deals online in 2001 and officially launched the Christmas Central website in 2004. That's over two decades of figuring out exactly what people want when they're trying to make their homes look like a winter wonderland.
But here's where it gets interesting. Today, 218,000 product SKUs are offered on Christmas Central, as well as on major ecommerce marketplaces in the United States, including Target.com, Walmart.com and Amazon.com. Yeah, you read that right-218,000 different products. That's not just a few artificial trees and some string lights. We're talking everything from the smallest ornament to massive commercial-grade decorations that could probably be seen from space.
The company's grown pretty impressively too. Christmas Central has appeared six times on Inc. magazine's Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies. And Newsweek and Statista have twice named Christmas Central one of the best online shops in the United States. So it's not just family and friends saying they're good-actual industry watchers are taking notice.
What really sets them apart is the breadth of what they offer. Sure, the name says "Christmas Central," but they're more than just Christmas. They offer all holiday decorations - in addition to indoor and outdoor decor and everything you need to decorate your home. Think Halloween, Easter, Fourth of July-basically any excuse to string up some lights or put something festive on your porch.
And they're not just selling to regular folks decorating their living rooms. Christmas Central specializes in a wide range of Christmas decorations, including artificial Christmas trees, lights, wreaths, garland, and ornaments. They offer both indoor and outdoor decorations, catering to individual customers as well as commercial clients. So if you've ever wondered where hotels and shopping centers get those massive holiday displays, there's a decent chance Christmas Central had something to do with it.
The family-owned aspect matters here. As a division of the family-owned and -operated Gordon Companies Inc., we have nearly 50 years of experience as a retailer. That's half a century of understanding what works, what doesn't, and how to keep customers coming back year after year. They've built relationships with vendors, figured out logistics, and basically become experts at getting festive stuff from warehouses to doorsteps.
One thing worth noting-they ship from their Cheektowaga, New York warehouse, and they offer FREE GROUND SHIPPING on all Christmas Central orders over $77 to the contiguous USA. Not the most groundbreaking thing ever, but when you're ordering a seven-foot artificial tree, free shipping starts to matter quite a bit.
Christmas Central has turned seasonal decorating into a year-round business by offering an absolutely massive selection, competitive prices, and the kind of reliability that comes from decades in the game. Whether you're the type who starts planning your Christmas display in July or you're scrambling to find a wreath on December 23rd, they've probably got what you need.
