Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Corsair-they've been around since 1994, which in tech years is basically forever. And they're not just surviving, they're thriving in one of the most competitive spaces imaginable: PC gaming hardware.

What started as a company making cache modules (yeah, really niche stuff) has evolved into this massive ecosystem of gaming gear. We're talking everything from RAM and power supplies to RGB keyboards, gaming mice, headsets, and even full custom PCs through their Origin PC subsidiary. The company designs and sells a range of computer products, including high-speed DRAM modules, power supplies (PSUs), USB flash drives, CPU/GPU and case cooling, gaming peripherals (such as keyboards and computer mice), computer cases, solid-state drives (SSDs), and speakers.

But what really sets Corsair apart is how they've positioned themselves. They're not trying to be the budget option-they're going after enthusiasts, content creators, and serious gamers who want performance and aren't afraid to pay for it. Founded in 1994, CORSAIR (NASDAQ:CRSR) is a leading global developer and manufacturer of high-performance gaming and streaming gear. With 21 different product lines CORSAIR offers a complete range of products that help digital athletes perform at their peak and enable streaming creators to produce studio-quality content for their fans. That's 21 different product lines, by the way. Twenty-one.

And they've been smart about acquisitions too. In 2018, they bought Elgato, which basically owns the streaming equipment market. Then SCUF Gaming for custom controllers. Then Origin PC for pre-built systems. On June 27, 2018, Corsair announced that it will be acquiring Elgato Gaming from the Munich-based company Elgato Systems. On July 24, 2019, it was announced that Corsair had acquired custom PC builder Origin PC. On December 16, 2019, Corsair announced its acquisition of game controller manufacturer SCUF Gaming. They're basically building a one-stop shop for anyone who takes their gaming setup seriously.

The company went public in 2020, trading on NASDAQ under CRSR. Corsair Gaming, Inc. (stylized as CORSAIR) is an American computer peripherals and gaming brand headquartered in Milpitas, California. They moved their headquarters from Fremont to Milpitas in 2022, consolidating operations in Silicon Valley.

What's interesting is their approach to RGB lighting-basically every product they make now has customizable lighting through their iCUE software. Some people think it's overkill, but it's become kind of their signature thing. The software lets you sync lighting across all your Corsair devices, monitor temps, adjust fan speeds, the whole nine yards.

They've also got this massive community of enthusiasts who basically do free marketing for them. Browse any PC building subreddit and you'll see Corsair gear everywhere. Their products have won over 4,000 awards, which sounds like marketing speak until you realize that's actually a lot of validation from tech reviewers and industry publications.

The gaming peripheral market is brutal-you're competing with Razer, Logitech, SteelSeries, and a dozen others. But Corsair has managed to carve out this reputation for quality and performance that keeps people coming back. Their Vengeance RAM is legendary among PC builders. Their AIO liquid coolers are consistently top-rated. And their mechanical keyboards have a cult following.
