Hello my yarnie fam!
Are you all having a nice summer? We got Kyla her plane ticket to go back to school today, and she signed up for her dorm move-in day and time.
It's hard to believe summer is half way over, but it is. In just a bit over a week Doug and Kyla will be going to Pennsic (the medieval camping event we go to most summers). Vero and I are staying home. I tend to take off every couple of years. It's fun, but as a small business owner, it can be really hard to be with limited wifi & electricity for 2 weeks.
I'm really hoping that by next year I can simply take 2 weeks off and have fun. I do really enjoy being there when I'm not stressed about work.
Once Doug and Kyla get back, it will be time to go to LBI (Long Beach Island). My mother-in-law rents a beach house there for 2 weeks at the end of every summer. Doug and the kids tend to go for most of the 2 weeks - they are a few days late because of Pennsic. I sometimes will go for 3-5 days. My meds make me very sensitive to heat, so I can't be at the beach for all that long, and certainly not nearly every day for 2 weeks. So I go for a few days to get some quality time with the in-laws and to have some island fun, but not so long that I get tired of spending most of the daytime in the house by myself.
How's your summer going? Any vaca fun for you? I hope you have something special planned, even if it's a staycation. :)
MEDIEVAL FUN How about some crafts from a long long time ago? I just mentioned that I won't be going to Pennsic this summer, but that doesn't mean I won't be crafting with some old-timey skills. All of us who aren't spending 2 weeks in the middle ages can still make some medieval creations. Here's a few of the medieval crafts I've shared with you over the years: |
