Returns

What is the return window?
You have 30 days from the date of the shipping confirmation for the corresponding product to return new, unused products for a refund. During the holiday season, items purchased between November 24, 2024, and December 24, 2024, can be returned within 90 days of delivery.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Products marked as final sale items are not eligible for returns, exchanges, or refunds. Sales of gift cards are final sale and cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded.

How will I receive my refund?
Your refund will be processed after Dagne Dover receives and inspects your return. Any return made on an order with a total value of $1,000 or more will be processed upon receipt and inspection at our return facility, not at the time of shipment or delivery.

Can I return online purchases in-store?
Yes. You can return any unused products within 30 days of shipment for online orders or purchase for in-store orders. In-store exchanges are based on availability and must be done within 30 days of purchase.

Who pays for return shipping?
All US returns are subject to a $10 handling fee, which includes the cost of your return shipping to us. We do not provide shipping labels for returns on international orders. If you are returning or exchanging an order placed to an address outside of the US, you will be required to cover the cost of postage for returns and exchanges.

Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Dagne Dover-it's basically what happens when three women get fed up with terrible bag design and decide to do something about it. And not in that vague "I could do better" way we all say when something annoys us, but like, actually quit their jobs and make it happen.

The brand launched in 2013, founded by Melissa Mash, Jessy Dover, and Deepa Gandhi. Mash was working at Coach at the time, constantly hearing customers complain about organizational nightmares in their bags. Dover was designing footwear but dreaming about accessories. Gandhi was at Club Monaco. They met at Wharton (well, two of them did-Dover got a cold email from Mash after she literally searched the Parsons website for designers), and somehow this trio just clicked.

What makes Dagne Dover different? They're obsessed with function without sacrificing style. Think bags with actual pockets that make sense-laptop sleeves, water bottle holders, key clips-all the stuff you didn't know you needed until you had it. Their Dakota backpack and Landon carryall have basically cult followings at this point. But it's not just about organization. The aesthetic is clean, modern, and somehow manages to look expensive without being obnoxious about it.

Here's where it gets interesting though. These founders deliberately avoided venture capital funding. In an era where everyone's chasing VC money, they chose what they call "patient capital" instead. Why? Because they wanted to build a brand focused on product quality and customer experience, not just hitting aggressive growth numbers. That's kind of radical when you think about it-prioritizing good design over rapid scaling.

The sustainability angle is real too, not just marketing fluff. They've used over 13.5 million recycled plastic bottles to make their bags. Their linings, dust bags, and several collections are made from Repreve recycled material. They even have a resale program called Almost Vintage (because buying used emits 80% less carbon than new). When they have excess inventory, they donate to organizations like the Shelter Partnership of Los Angeles.

Their flagship store is in Soho at 273 Lafayette Street, and it's worth visiting if you're in NYC. They've set up this whole "test drive station" where you can actually see how much fits in each bag-like, they have real laptops and Tupperware containers sitting there so you can gauge size. It's the kind of thoughtful touch that makes sense when you remember these are people who started the company because they were annoyed by bad bag design.

The prices sit in that sweet spot where you'll wince a bit but won't need to take out a loan. Most bags range from around $100 to $300, depending on size and style. Not cheap, but considering the quality and the fact that people seem to use these bags for years, the cost-per-wear math works out.

One thing that stands out: their customer service is actually responsive. They have live chat, email support, and a real phone number with humans who answer. In 2025, that's basically luxury service.

The brand has this interesting position in the market-they're not trying to be a luxury status symbol, but they're also not fast fashion. They're for people who need their bag to work hard but still look good doing it. Morning commute, gym session, weekend trip-same bag, different day. That's the whole vibe.
