Returns
What is the return window?
Returns must be made within 20 days of your original purchase date. This is a relatively short window compared to many retailers, so you'll want to try on your items promptly after receiving them.
Are there any items that are non-returnable?
E-Gift Cards are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged. Additionally, final sale items and orders shipped outside of the United States are excluded from this service. Draper James merchandise purchased at other retailers must be returned to the location where it was purchased.
Who pays for return shipping?
With Offset, you ensure a free return without any additional cost for just $3.98 when you opt in at checkout. If this option is not selected, a $13 return label fee may apply which will be deducted from your refund. Returns dropped off at Happy Returns locations will continue to be free.
Can I return online purchases in-store?
Item(s) may be returned in-person to a store location or via our returns portal below. This gives customers flexibility to either ship returns back or drop them off at a physical Draper James store location.
How do I start a return online?
Enter your order number and billing zip code, phone number or email. Select the product(s) you wish to return. Select a reason for the return, and choose between options for an exchange, refund or merchandise credit.
Editor's Take
So here's the thing about Draper James-it's basically what happens when Hollywood glamour meets front-porch hospitality, and honestly? It works better than you'd think.
Founded by Reese Witherspoon in 2015, the brand is a nod to her Southern upbringing and aims to emphasize her southern roots and personal style. The name itself is kind of sweet-it honors Witherspoon's grandparents, Dorothea Draper and William James. And that personal touch shows up everywhere, from the gingham prints to the way their Nashville flagship feels more like walking into your stylish aunt's house than a typical retail store.
The brand sits in this interesting space between accessible and aspirational. Most styles are priced between $50-$175, which puts it somewhere around Anthropologie territory-not fast fashion, but not completely out of reach either. You're getting dresses with bows, chambray everything, and enough floral patterns to stock a garden party. But here's what's actually impressive: they designed the first in-house plus size collection for the brand, offering sizes XS-3X, which shows they're at least trying to walk the inclusivity talk.
The Nashville store in the 12 South neighborhood has become something of a destination. It's located right next to the famous 'I Believe in Nashville' mural and is easily recognized thanks to its blue and white striped storefront. People literally line up for photos. Inside, they serve sweet tea (because of course they do), and everything from the throw pillows to the art on the walls is for sale.
Notice how the brand has evolved beyond just clothing? They've expanded into home goods, partnered with companies like Kohl's to reach a broader market, and even launched activewear. In August 2023, Consortium Brand Partners acquired a 70% stake in the company, which suggests they're positioning for serious growth.
But let's be real-the Southern aesthetic isn't for everyone. If you're not into that preppy, feminine, "let's have brunch" vibe, you'll probably find it a bit much. The color palette leans heavily on blues, pinks, and florals. It's unapologetically girly in a way that feels refreshing to some and overly saccharine to others.
What's kind of fascinating is how Draper James has managed to bottle this very specific version of Southern style-not country, not cotillion formal, but somewhere in between-and turn it into a recognizable brand identity. Whether you're actually from the South or just like the aesthetic, there's something here. And with their decade anniversary tour hitting multiple cities, they're clearly betting that Southern charm has national appeal.
