NASCAR Cup Series competitor Ricky Stenhouse Jr. met with Thursday Thunder competitors just one month before he’ll be back at the speedway to compete in the Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart. The penultimate round of the 2026 Thursday Thunder season on Thursday night, July 9, will be the first on-track action of Atlanta’s summer NASCAR weekend. “That’s the perfect thing for the campers to do here on a Thursday night. Come out, watch these kids – I guarantee you’ll see some of them in NASCAR at some point,” said Stenhouse. Some of the most important prep work that happens at EchoPark Speedway before each NASCAR race focuses on the Steel and Foam Energy Reduction barriers – otherwise known as “SAFER” barriers – that line the walls around the speedway. More than 13,000 feet of these SAFER barriers wrap around the 1.54-mile speedway and it all gets inspected before NASCAR rolls into town.
