I took up running last May after an absence of over twenty years, and have since been buying new running gear, trainers, shorts, tops etc. So when I was asked along with a few other members of Henfield Joggers to test some running kit for Lidl I jumped at the chance - especially as you got to keep what you tested, and as most runners know new kit isn't cheap! I wasn't expecting too much from the clothing, as it was from a budget supermarket and I suppose a bit of snobbery was present, but I was pleasantly surprised. I used the running top, undershorts and shorts for the first time on one of the club's 10-mile Saturday morning runs, and was impressed by how comfortable they were. I am always careful not to wear too many layers when I run as I tend to overheat, but this clothing was perfect - it was very lightweight, I wasn't too hot, and it cut out the wind even on the top of the South Downs. I have since used the clothing on numerous short runs (between 5 and 10 miles), and I also used it when I ran the Steyning Stinger Trail Marathon and the Surrey Tempest, getting personal bests on both runs. I can honestly say hand on heart that the Lidl running gear is just as good as any of my other running clothing, if not better - and it's a fraction of the price. When it goes on sale to the general public, I will definitely purchase more.
