Returns
What is the return window?
Everlane accepts returns within 30 days from the ship date for orders shipped to the US and Canada. For orders shipped to other countries, the return window is 45 days. It's important to note that the countdown starts from the shipping date, not the delivery date.
Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Final Sale items and gift cards are non-refundable. Generally, underwear (both tops and bottoms) can't be returned if they're out of their original packaging. However, Everlane has a "First-Try Underwear Policy" which means you can return one piece of underwear (a top or a bottom, but not Final Sale items) even if you've taken it out of the package to try it on. If you buy more underwear later, any returns after that first one must be in the original, unopened packaging.
How will I receive my refund?
Refunds are issued to the original form of payment. Orders placed with store credit can only be refunded in store credit. If you want a refund, you'll need to wait between four and six weeks from the time you send the package. It takes this long for Everlane to receive the package and process your refund to the original form of payment.
Can I return online purchases in-store?
Yes, you need to bring a receipt or printed purchase confirmation email as proof of purchase for your in-store return. Ask any Everlane store clerk to exchange or refund your items. In-store returns are free for US customers.
Who pays for return shipping?
You'll have to pay a $5 shipping label fee for your online return unless you opt for store credit instead of a refund of your money. However, store credit refunds are free. If you live near an Everlane store or a Happy Returns Bar, use them! Returning in person is free for US customers and avoids that $7 mail-in fee.

So here's the thing about Everlane-they basically took one look at the fashion industry and said, "What if we just... told people the truth?" Radical concept, right?
Founded in 2011 by Michael Preysman and Jesse Farmer, this San Francisco-based brand built its entire identity around what they call "Radical Transparency." And they're not kidding around. Every single product on their site comes with a breakdown showing exactly how much it cost to make-materials, labor, transportation, the works. Then they show you their markup. It's like if your favorite restaurant let you peek at the invoice for your dinner ingredients. Uncomfortable? Maybe. Refreshing? Absolutely.
The whole operation started with a simple premise: the company gained 60,000 subscribers in five days, although they only had 1,500 T-shirts in inventory. That's the kind of demand you get when you're solving a problem people didn't even know they had. Turns out, shoppers were tired of wondering why a basic tee costs $80 at some brands when the materials cost maybe $15.
But Everlane isn't just about showing you the numbers. They partner with the best, ethical factories around the world, visit them often and build strong personal relationships with the owners. Each factory is given a compliance audit to evaluate factors like fair wages, reasonable hours, and environment. They're basically the friend who won't shut up about where their coffee beans came from-except in this case, you actually want to hear about it.
The product lineup hits that sweet spot between "I could wear this to a meeting" and "I could wear this to brunch." Think cashmere sweaters, Japanese denim, Italian leather shoes, and those perfect white tees that somehow look expensive even though they're not trying too hard. They source Grade-A cashmere sweaters, Italian shoes, and Peruvian Pima tees. Everything's designed to last years, not seasons-which makes sense when you're being transparent about costs. Hard to justify planned obsolescence when customers can see exactly what went into making something.
And they've put their money where their mouth is on sustainability. In 2018, the company pledged to stop using virgin plastic by 2021. On October 24, 2018, Everlane launched ReNew, a line of outerwear crafted from materials that were created out of 3 million recycled plastic bottles. Three million bottles. That's not a typo.
What started as an online-only operation has evolved. The company opened brick-and-mortar stores in SoHo in New York City in 2017 and in San Francisco in 2018, with locations now scattered across major cities. But the core philosophy hasn't changed-just the number of places you can experience it.
The brand's grown from a scrappy startup to a company pulling in over $100 million in revenue, all while maintaining that "we're just being honest with you" vibe. They've had their controversies (what successful company hasn't?), but the fundamental appeal remains: quality basics, fair pricing, and enough transparency to make other brands squirm.
Whether you're the type who reads every label or you just want jeans that fit right and last more than six months, Everlane's carved out something different. They proved you don't need to choose between looking good, feeling good about your purchase, and not emptying your wallet. Sometimes the most radical thing you can do is just be straightforward.
