Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Evolvh-it's basically what happens when someone gets really, really obsessed with making haircare that doesn't suck for your health or your hair. Founded by Boris Oak, who literally grew up in his mom's salon after they immigrated from the Soviet Union, this guy spent decades watching people slather questionable chemicals on their hair and thought, "There's got to be a better way."

And honestly? He was onto something. Since 2009 (before "clean beauty" was even a buzzword), Evolvh has been doing this biology-driven, science-based approach to haircare using natural and organic ingredients. It's not just marketing fluff either-they're actually treating hair from the inside out instead of just coating it with artificial stuff to hide problems.

What's kind of fascinating is their whole approach. They've got this proprietary amino acid technology and PhytoBlend of natural active ingredients that actually produce visible results. Plus, every product does multiple jobs so you don't need to layer a bunch of different things, and everything's super concentrated so you get more bang for your buck.

The clean credentials are legit too. Made with 90% or higher organic content, sulfate-free, paraben-free, sodium chloride-free, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and most products are vegan. They're basically checking all the boxes that matter if you're trying to avoid the sketchy stuff.

But here's what really sets them apart-they originally created this line for conscious salon stylists who care about ingredients but still demand serious performance. So it's not just "natural" for the sake of being natural; it's natural that actually works as well as (or better than) the conventional stuff.

The founder's story is pretty compelling too. Boris immigrated with his family in 1978, his mom became a hairdresser, opened her own salon, and twenty years later he was managing it and turned it into one of the top-retailing salons in the US. That's some serious hair industry street cred right there.
