Editor's Take

So here's the thing about FootJoy-they've basically owned golf footwear for, like, forever. We're talking about a brand that's been the number one shoe on the PGA Tour every single year since 1945. That's not a typo. Seventy-nine consecutive years of dominance.

But FootJoy isn't just resting on those laurels. Walk into any pro shop and you'll see what I mean-their Premiere Series has become the go-to for tour pros like Justin Thomas, Max Homa, and Adam Scott. Actually, more tour professionals wear Premiere Series shoes than all other golf shoes combined, which is kind of insane when you think about the competition out there.

The brand's roots go back to 1857, though they didn't become FootJoy until 1923 with that tagline "The shoe that's different." And honestly? They've stayed different. While other companies chase trends, FootJoy keeps refining what works-waterproof technology, stability systems, that tour-proven performance golfers actually trust when money's on the line.

Their HyperFlex line shows they get modern golfers too. It's designed for players who want athletic styling without sacrificing that traditional FootJoy quality. The shoes deliver extraordinary comfort and energy return, which matters when you're walking 18 holes in August heat.

What's interesting is FootJoy's owned by Acushnet Company (yeah, the Titleist people), and they're headquartered in Fairhaven, Massachusetts-employing around 3,000 people in the region. They're not some faceless corporation. They're deeply embedded in golf culture, sponsoring the U.S. Ryder Cup team since 1928.

Beyond shoes, their glove game is equally dominant. StaSof gloves are everywhere on tour. And their apparel line has evolved into legit performance wear-moisture-wicking polos, weather-resistant outerwear, the whole deal. It's gear designed by people who actually understand what golfers need when conditions get tough.

Notice how FootJoy doesn't really do gimmicks? No wild colorways every season, no celebrity endorsements that feel forced. Just consistent innovation in materials, fit technology, and construction. That's probably why they've maintained that number one position for so long-they focus on performance over hype.

The MyJoys customization program is pretty cool too. You can basically design your own shoes with different colors, materials, and personalization. It's become popular for tournament prizes and corporate events, but regular golfers use it too.

One thing that stands out: FootJoy products aren't cheap, but they're not trying to be. They're positioned as premium performance gear, and golfers seem willing to pay for reliability. When your feet are comfortable and stable through a four-hour round, that $200 price tag feels justified.
