Join us for the 26th anniversary of Satchmo SummerFest, a free celebration of the life, legacy and music of Louis Armstrong. The festival returns to the New Orleans Jazz Museum on August 1–2, 2026, with two days of live music, cultural programming and engaging conversations honoring one of New Orleans' most beloved icons.
Admission is free and open to the public.

From the main stages to the intimate piano sessions inside the Jazz Museum, Satchmo SummerFest delivers the full spectrum of New Orleans sound: traditional jazz, brass bands, funk, R&B, and everything in between.
Saturday highlights include:
Sunday opens with one of the weekend's most meaningful moments: the annual Jazz Mass returns to St. Augustine Church's main sanctuary for the first time since Hurricane Ida, a powerful homecoming at one of New Orleans' most treasured landmarks. Afterward, the Satchmo Parade marches through Tremé, the neighborhood where Armstrong's musical journey began.

The Satchmo Legacy Stage dives deep into the life, music and impact of Louis Armstrong through lectures, research and live performances. Whether you're a lifelong jazz enthusiast or just beginning to discover Armstrong's world, this year's highlights include: Dr. Robert Mikell on Armstrong's role in popularizing jazz across six continents Charanya Ramakrishnan sharing personal stories from neighbors who knew Louis and Lucille Armstrong in Corona, Queens Jon Pult exploring Armstrong's fascinating radio career Lisa La Touche examining the intersection of tap dance and Armstrong's artistry through archival research and live performance Ricky Riccardi with multiple sessions, including a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Hot Five recordings and a look back at Armstrong's historic 1956 visit to Ghana David Sager, Scott Wenzel & Riccardi offering a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Mosaic Records' Complete Louis in New York Sessions 1924-1925 collection Sharone Carmona on Armstrong's lifelong love of film James Karst presenting newly uncovered research on jazz pioneer Buddy Bolden
