What is the return window?
Within 90 days of the original purchase date, you can return your new, unused items for an exchange or refund. When the 90-day period ends, our commitment to assuring quality in every stitch does not.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Final sale, monogrammed, customized, and made-to-order items are nonreturnable and cannot be canceled or modified after the order is placed. Exceptions are made for defective items and items damaged during delivery.

Who pays for return shipping?
For exchanges, there is no charge to return the item, and the new merchandise will be shipped to you with no shipping fee. For returns, there is a $8.95 shipping fee per package with our label.

What if I received a damaged or incorrect item?
Should an item be defective, we'll replace it for up to one full year from the date of purchase. Please clearly explain the defect to a store associate or member of our customer service team. We'll inspect your return to verify the issue. After our review, you'll receive an exchange, refund, or merchandise credit.

Can I return online purchases in-store?
Yes, most items purchased online at garnethill.com are eligible for return at any Garnet Hill store location.

Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Garnet Hill-it's basically what happens when someone decides that natural fibers and thoughtful design shouldn't be mutually exclusive. And honestly? They've been at it since 1976, which means they were doing the whole "responsibly sourced" thing way before it became a hashtag.

The company started in a converted sugarhouse in New Hampshire (yes, really) when the founders imported English flannel sheets. That's it. Just sheets. But apparently those sheets were good enough that nearly 50 years later, the brand's still going strong with a full lineup of women's clothing, bedding, home decor, and kids' stuff.

What's kind of interesting is their whole vibe. They're obsessed with natural fibers-we're talking organic cotton, European Flax linen, SFA-certified cashmere. The kind of materials that feel expensive because, well, they are. But there's this trade-off happening. You're paying more upfront for stuff that's supposed to last longer and feel better against your skin. Whether that math works out depends on how much you value not having your sheets pill after three washes.

The design aesthetic leans heavily into prints and patterns. Lots of florals, lots of color. It's not minimalist by any stretch-more like if a cottage in the English countryside had a baby with a New England farmhouse. Some people absolutely love this look. Others find it a bit much. There's not really a middle ground.

They've got this 90-day return policy, which sounds generous until you realize they charge $8.95 for return shipping. Exchanges are free, though, so if you're just sizing up or down, you're covered. And they do have this quality guarantee thing where defective items can be replaced up to a year after purchase, which is actually pretty solid.

Here's where it gets a little complicated. Garnet Hill is now part of Qurate Retail Group, the same folks who own QVC, HSN, and a bunch of other brands. So while they still maintain that small-company, artisanal vibe in their marketing, they're backed by a pretty massive retail conglomerate. Does that matter? Maybe, maybe not. The products are still designed with the same attention to detail, but you're not exactly supporting a tiny independent business anymore.

The pricing sits in that tricky middle zone-too expensive to be considered affordable, but not quite luxury-tier either. A flannel duvet cover might run you $150-200. Cashmere sweaters hover around $200-300. It's the kind of pricing where you really need to believe in the quality to justify the purchase.

They do have two physical stores now-an outlet in Franconia (at their headquarters) and a full-price store in Dedham, Massachusetts. The outlet's worth checking out if you're in the area, with discounts up to 70% on overstocked and discontinued items. But for most people, this is an online shopping experience.

Garnet Hill occupies this specific niche for people who want natural-fiber home goods and clothing with a distinctive aesthetic and are willing to pay a premium for it. It's not fast fashion, it's not ultra-luxury, it's somewhere in between. Whether that's your sweet spot is entirely personal.
