What is the return window?
Gentle Herd has a 28 Day Return And Exchanges Policy, which means clients must raise all return requests within 28 days of receiving the delivery by contacting them via email at [email protected] and stating the reason for refund or exchange. After this period, they do not offer any returns or exchanges.
Are there any items that are non-returnable?
All items purchased as "final sale" including gift cards, gifts with purchase, or discounted merchandise, cannot be returned, exchanged, or credited, without exception. Items must be kept in original packaging in the same condition as when received, including all tags and boxes.
How will I receive my refund?
The refund usually can take up to 5 business days to show on your account due to varying processing times between payment providers, subject to its compliance with the Return Policy. After inspection, they will notify you via email whether the item qualified for a refund, and if yes, the refund will be made via the original payment method within 5-7 business days.
Who pays for return shipping?
Gentle Herd does not currently offer return labels. If customers receive the wrong item or product damage, the customer needs to pre-pay the return shipping fee and contact customer service via email with payment voucher information, and the shipping fee will be returned through their PayPal account. Other than that, they will not refund shipping charges for other reasons.
How do I start a return online?
Contact them via email at [email protected] and state your reason for refund or exchange, and they will try their best to accommodate you. Follow the steps in the email they send to you to return and exchange.
Editor's Take
So here's the thing about cashmere-we all want it, but most of us can't justify dropping $400 on a single sweater. That's basically where Gentle Herd comes in, and honestly, it's kind of brilliant how they've approached the whole luxury-for-less concept.
The brand was founded in Inner Mongolia, which makes sense when you think about it since that region produces some of the world's finest cashmere. But what sets them apart isn't just where they source their materials-it's how they've structured everything. They source their cashmere and wool from Inner Mongolia, an area with abundant grass and water that provides a peaceful pasture for gentle care of the sheep herd. The whole direct-to-consumer model means they're cutting out the middleman markup that usually makes cashmere so prohibitively expensive.
And look, I appreciate that they've established standardized breeding practices for shearing, feeding, and transporting livestock while maintaining labor rights and emphasizing sustainability. In an industry where ethical practices can be pretty murky, that transparency matters. They're not just throwing around buzzwords-they actually detail their production process and pricing model on their website.
The collection itself is pretty extensive. We're talking oversized turtleneck sweaters, structured coats, cardigans, and even accessories like cashmere knee socks. Everything skews toward that minimalist, neutral aesthetic-lots of camel, oatmeal, black, and grey. It's the kind of stuff that works whether you're heading to the office or just want to look put-together on a weekend coffee run. Free shipping is available for purchases over $199, which is actually pretty reasonable when you're buying luxury knitwear.
Now, I'd be lying if I said everything was perfect. Customer reviews are kind of all over the place. Some people absolutely rave about the quality and fast shipping, while others have reported issues with customer service response times and sizing inconsistencies. They have a 28 Day Return and Exchanges Policy where customers must provide the return tracking number and keep the original packaging in the same condition. Just something to keep in mind before you order.
The sizing does seem to run generous based on what I've seen-like, unusually generous. So definitely check those size charts carefully before adding to cart. But if you've been eyeing cashmere pieces and can't stomach department store prices, Gentle Herd might be worth exploring. Just go in with realistic expectations and maybe start with one piece to test the waters.
