WHALE SHARK DAY

August 30 is International Whale Shark Day, and we've got a BIG reason to celebrate.

The whale shark is the largest fish on Earth, with some reaching over 40 feet long. And, to help raise awareness and support conservation efforts, we’re giving you an opportunity to bring one home through our Adopt-an-Animal program.

It’s an easy way to make a big splash for marine life, and it comes with some cool perks, too. Your adopt kit includes an adorable Whale Shark Plush, an Adoption Certificate, a Fact Card, and a Drawstring Backpack!

Why whale sharks are awesome:

They are keystone species, meaning their presence significantly impacts the balance of the entire ecosystem.
Their mouths can grow up to 4 feet wide. No need to worry, though, because they only eat zooplankton, krill, jellies, and other small fish.
Each one has a unique spot pattern, like a fingerprint in polka dots.
They’re found in tropical oceans all over the world, but their numbers are declining.
