Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Gobble-it's basically what happens when someone finally figured out that most of us want home-cooked meals but absolutely don't want to spend our entire evening making them happen.

Founded in 2010 by Ooshma Garg, Gobble delivers freshly prepped meal kits that transform into delicious dinners in 15 minutes. And when they say 15 minutes, they're not kidding around. These chef-designed meals come with ingredients that have been marinated, portioned, and simmered so that dinner is both fast and flavorful.

What makes Gobble different from the Blue Aprons of the world? The prep work is already done. We're talking pre-chopped vegetables, pre-made sauces, sometimes even par-cooked proteins. Pre-chopped ingredients, premade sauces, and some pre-cooked components mean meals can be ready in about 15 minutes. It's like having a sous chef who does all the tedious stuff and leaves you with the fun part.

The menu's pretty solid too. Most classic dinners are between 700-900 calories, with a wide variety of dietary choices, cuisines, and unique ingredients represented on their changing, weekly menus. They also offer Lean & Clean dinners each week which are low carb, lean protein meals that are under 600 calories. So whether you're trying to eat lighter or just want comfort food, they've got options.

Their operations have grown rapidly, serving 47 states and spanning offices in California, Pennsylvania, and Toronto. That's pretty impressive reach for a company that started as a Stanford student's solution to the "I'm too busy to cook but too broke for constant takeout" problem.

The pricing sits around $11.99 per meal for larger orders, or $13.99 per meal if you're just ordering the minimum of four meals. Not exactly budget territory, but when you factor in the time saved and the fact that you're not throwing away half a bunch of cilantro you bought for one recipe, it starts to make sense.

One thing that's kind of interesting-Gobble was acquired in December 2022 by Intelligent Foods (which also owns Sunbasket). So if you're wondering why their careers page redirects elsewhere, that's why. They're part of a bigger meal kit family now.

The real test, though, is whether it actually works. And from what I can tell, people either love it or have very specific complaints about delivery timing. Customer service operates Monday through Friday from 5 am to 8 pm PT, and weekends from 5 am to 1 pm PT, which is pretty decent coverage if something goes wrong.

Bottom line? If you value your time more than your money and you're tired of the whole "what's for dinner" mental load, Gobble might just be worth a shot.
