What is your ideal Mother’s Day?

On Mother’s Day, I just like to chill. Usually, when the kids lived with us, they would always make me, like, a beautiful breakfast with Brad. But actually I’ll be traveling this Mother’s Day back from Apple’s college graduation, which is insane. So I think Brad will probably make me a meal, and that’ll be it.

They say we all turn into our mothers eventually—are there any ways you feel like you’re turning into your mother?

Well, I think I’m becoming more and more of a country mouse, like my mother has. She still likes the city, too, but as she’s gotten older, she’s really loved to be out of cities and more in the country, and I think I’m following that suit.

Are there any ways that you think Apple is becoming like you?

Apple is already very much like me in this way: She’s like an organizing, scheduling fiend. I’m afraid I modeled a not-very-carefree way of living.

Best piece of motherly advice you’ve given your children?

Just to really be themselves. And that if they were being themselves through and through and they disappointed me, that was a good sign, and that it was their job to disappoint me as they were developing their true selves.

What’s your summer skin-care routine?

My skin tends to be a little less dry in the summer, but I still have a really robust routine. I use the Youth-Boost serum and cream religiously, morning and night. In the mornings I start with our new vitamin C serum—especially in the summer, getting that megadose of antioxidants is so important. And I use the Vita-C eye cream, which gives me a little color-correcting brightness around the eyes. I love that because I like to be pretty much makeup-free, especially in the summer.

What’s your trick for getting guests to leave at the end of the night?

Then at night, I layer the 3x Retinol serum with the Youth-Boost. Retinol is key for skin renewal, and ours is gentle but so, so powerful. I feel like this is the ultimate skin-support routine: All the active ingredients—and we make sure they’re the highest quality, most potent options—are the things that really support your skin on a cellular level, and using them together I feel like I’m really doing everything I can to keep my skin looking and feeling the way I want it to: smooth, firm, bright, even, and just luminous.

Best meal you’ve had in the last month?

It was at an incredible restaurant in SoHo called Gourmega, the first restaurant from Ghetto Gastro. It is one communal table, and you can reserve the whole thing or just one or two seats or however many you want. It’s a beautiful room. And it’s Asian-African fusion, really incredible food, stunning presentation. And just really special—it blew me away.

Do you have a signature scent?

I really love the Fischersund No. 1—that’s the one I’ve been wearing a lot lately. And in the summer, I still have goop Edition 03, the Shiso one, and I wear that all the time.

What three pieces are you wearing the most right now?

Those rose-colored Bermuda cargo shorts from GWYN—I’ve been wearing those a lot. They’re really good because the days can be warm and the evenings a little chillier and they’re the perfect transitional pant-slash-short. Always my Caddis glasses, I have them on all the time. And this half-zip polo sweater from GWYN, Augusta. It’s done in this really gorgeous cotton-cashmere yarn that our designer, Sofía, sourced, so it’s super soft but also really light and breathable. And the burnt red is so good—it’s kind of a little moody and unexpected for spring, which I love.

What are the best graduation gifts to give?

We’re thinking about giving the kids some stock so that they can get involved in managing and asking questions about the markets. And maybe something physical to commemorate it—I have to think about what that is.

What does self-care look like for you right now?

I think a couple things. Really trying to carve out time every day to be outside in the sun a little bit and get my feet in the grass. And I love a massage a couple times a month. It’s just sort of back to basics, I think.
