Returns

What is the return window?
You can cancel your paid Grammarly account at any time. However, as outlined in our Terms of Service, refunds are issued only if required by law. Grammarly doesn't have a return or refund policy. When you purchase a subscription, you commit to keeping the Grammarly Premium for the length of your plan. To avoid unwanted charges, you will need to cancel your account before the next billing cycle begins.

Can I get a refund from Grammarly?
The Grammarly refund policy is very clear. Under normal circumstances, they do not offer full or partial refunds. However, in special instances, such as there is a price increase in the middle of your contract or the software just doesn't work, you can contact customer support and make a refund request. Grammarly will make the decision on a case-by-case basis.

What if I purchased through the Apple App Store?
The one exception to this rule is if you bought Grammarly through the Apple store. In that case, you can get a refund by following the simple steps below. The refund must be made within 24 hours of purchasing the subscription and is subject to Apple's terms.

How do I cancel my subscription?
Grammarly subscriptions are set to auto-renew at the beginning of each billing cycle. You should receive a reminder email shortly before the renewal, which gives you time to cancel the account. There is no automatic refund if you forget to cancel or decide that you don't want Grammarly after the renewal date.

Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Grammarly-it's basically become that friend who's always looking over your shoulder, but in a good way. You know, the one who catches your typos before you embarrass yourself in front of your boss or that cute person you're messaging.

Founded back in 2009 by three guys from Ukraine (Max Lytvyn, Alex Shevchenko, and Dmytro Lider), Grammarly started as a tool to help students write better papers. But it's evolved into something way bigger. We're talking about an AI-powered writing assistant that over 40 million people use daily. And get this-96% of Fortune 500 companies trust it. That's not just impressive, that's kind of insane.

The company's headquartered in San Francisco now, though they've kept offices in Kyiv, New York, and Vancouver. And they've been valued at around $13 billion, which... yeah. For a grammar checker. But it's not really just a grammar checker anymore, is it?

What makes Grammarly different is how it's everywhere. Like, literally everywhere you write. Gmail, Slack, Google Docs, social media-it follows you around like a helpful ghost. The browser extension alone has changed how millions of people communicate online. No more copying and pasting into Word to check your spelling. It just works, right there, as you type.

The free version catches your basic mistakes-spelling, grammar, punctuation. But the Premium version? That's where things get interesting. It'll suggest better word choices, check your tone (because apparently we all sound angrier in emails than we think), and even detect plagiarism. They've recently added generative AI features too, so now it can help you brainstorm and rewrite entire passages.

Here's something most people don't know: Grammarly takes security seriously. They don't sell your data or let third parties train AI models on your writing. In an age where everyone's monetizing everything, that's actually refreshing. They're SOC 2 Type 2 certified and comply with GDPR and CCPA.

The company made headlines in 2022 when they ceased all operations in Russia and Belarus following the invasion of Ukraine, donating about $5 million in revenue from those markets to Ukrainian humanitarian efforts. They even made their product free for Ukrainian journalists covering the war. That's putting your money where your mouth is.

But let's talk about their marketing for a second. If you've been on YouTube anytime in the past few years, you've probably seen their ads. Like, a lot. Some people find them annoying (there are entire Reddit threads about it), but you can't deny the strategy worked. They were early adopters of YouTube pre-roll advertising and basically rode that wave to massive user growth.

Their social media game is strong too-over 6.8 million followers on Facebook, nearly 600K on Instagram. They've mastered the art of grammar memes and motivational content that actually resonates with people. It's educational without being preachy, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.

The pricing is straightforward: free version for basics, Premium at around $12-30 per month depending on your plan, and Business plans for teams. No hidden fees, though their refund policy is pretty strict-basically, you're not getting your money back unless the law requires it.
