Returns

What is the return window?
Guitar Center has a 45-day satisfaction guarantee for most items, which is longer than many return policies like Best Buy (15 days) and Amazon (30 days). However, returns of recording devices, DJ equipment, workstation keyboards, rack signal processors and lighting/fog machines must be made within 14 days of purchase.

Do I need a receipt to return an item?
You can return items whether bought in-store or online by bringing a copy of your order confirmation email or the packing slip you received with your order, and credit will be issued immediately.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
There are a handful of items that cannot be returned to Guitar Center - ever, as they are considered final-sale items. Additionally, anything with 'Vintage' as the first word in the title has a THREE day return policy instead of the standard 45 days.

How will I receive my refund?
Refunds for cash purchases over $250.00 will be made by check or Visa Debit Card (in select locations). If you return an item in its original condition within the return period, you'll receive a full refund of the purchase price, excluding shipping and handling charges.

Can I return online purchases in-store?
Yes, you can return your item (whether it was bought in-store or online) in person at any Guitar Center location. This is beneficial since you won't have to pay for shipping - just bring the order confirmation email or the packing slip to the store.

Editor's Take

Guitar Center isn't just another music store-it's basically the musical equivalent of a candy shop for anyone who's ever dreamed of making noise with an instrument. And trust me, they've got the numbers to back up that claim. With 304 locations nationwide, they're the largest musical instrument retailer in the United States, which means you've probably driven past one without even realizing it.

What makes Guitar Center interesting isn't just their size, though. They're headquartered in Westlake Village, California, but their story started way back in Hollywood in 1959 as "The Organ Center"-yeah, they sold church organs. The transformation to guitar mecca happened gradually, riding the wave of rock music's explosion in the '60s and '70s. Kind of poetic when you think about it.

Here's what's genuinely impressive: Guitar Center is the world's largest musical instruments store, selling guitars, bass, drums, amps, DJ equipment, keyboards, pro-audio and more. But it's not just about selling stuff. They've built this whole ecosystem around music-lessons, repairs, rentals, even recording studios. It's like they figured out that musicians don't just need gear; they need a community.

The company's reach extends way beyond just retail too. They oversee several subsidiaries, including Musician's Friend, AVDG, Music & Arts, Woodwind & Brasswind, and Giardinelli. So even if you think you're shopping somewhere else, there's a decent chance you're still in the Guitar Center family.

And here's something that shows they're not just about making money: The Guitar Center Music Foundation is an independent 501c3 organization dedicated to the healing, transformative power of music. Through instrument grants and donations, they help ensure schools and music education programs get the resources they need to keep music alive and accessible. Founded in 2005, the Foundation has reached over 300,000 people through instrument grants to schools and music therapy programs.

So whether you're a bedroom guitarist or a touring musician, Guitar Center has positioned itself as the place where musical dreams either begin or get seriously upgraded.
