Editor's Take
So here's the thing about Huda Beauty-it's basically the poster child for how social media can turn a passion project into a global empire. And I mean that in the best way possible.
Huda Kattan launched this cosmetics line back in 2013, but the story really starts in April 2010 when she kicked off a beauty blog and YouTube channel. In 2013, she launched the cosmetics line with her sister Mona Kattan, naming it after her channel. What's wild is how she went from posting makeup tutorials to building one of the fastest-growing beauty brands in the world. The brand's official Instagram account has 58 million followers-that's not a typo.
The brand got its big break with false eyelashes. The first Huda Beauty product was a collection of false eyelashes released through Sephora in Dubai in 2011, and in the United States in 2015. The Kardashian sisters used Huda Beauty lashes, providing an early publicity boost to the label. Talk about a celebrity endorsement that actually mattered.
But Huda Beauty isn't just about lashes anymore. Huda Beauty offers more than 140 products online or in-store. The cosmetics company has a diverse range of makeup products, from eye makeup to foundations and lip products. Some of their highest selling products include their Easy Bake Loose Baking and Setting Powder, their FAUX FILTER line consisting of color correctors and concealer, and their Blush Filter Liquid Blush.
What really sets this brand apart is how Huda herself stays front and center. She's not some faceless CEO-she's actively testing products, sharing tutorials, and engaging with her community. Beginning as a blog in 2010, Huda Beauty has fast become the number 1 Beauty Instagram account in the world with over 26 million followers and counting! The brand's whole vibe is about making beauty accessible and relatable, not intimidating.
And they've expanded beyond just makeup. In November 2018, Huda Beauty launched their fragrance arm, Kayali, founded by Kattan's sister, Mona Kattan. Kayali means "my imagination" in Arabic, and the intended goal of the fragrance line was to create scents that "tell a story" and feel personalized. There's also Wishful, their skincare line that launched in 2020.
As of September 2024, all Huda Beauty products brought in an annual revenue of $75 million, with the brand's popularity only growing through new releases. And get this-in June 2025, Huda Beauty announced that they had become fully founder owned after buying back shares from their private equity investor. That's a pretty big deal in an industry where brands often get swallowed up by conglomerates.
The brand's success isn't just about products, though. It's about community. Huda built this empire by actually listening to what people wanted and creating content that resonated. She shares makeup fails, behind-the-scenes moments, and real talk about the beauty industry. It's that authenticity-or at least the appearance of it-that keeps people coming back.
Whether you're into the Easy Bake powder that basically started the baking trend, or you're curious about their newer launches, Huda Beauty has managed to stay relevant in an incredibly crowded market. And honestly? That's kind of impressive when you think about how many beauty brands launch and disappear every year.
